Racism Has A Name

Jeebus, blaming video games is so stupid. If they were the problem then there would be more of these shootings than there already are.

Between myself, my male relatives, and my friends I estimate that we have slaughtered 36,049,596,306,195,392 digitally-rendered characters in video games.

Slaughtered them with every weapon known to mankind - assault rifles, shot guns, knives, flame throwers, grenades, brass knuckles, swords, spears, bottles, Molotov cocktails, chain saws and lead pipes.

And you know what is weird? None of us ever felt the slightest compulsion to shoot up a Wallmart full of brown people.

What is Sam Sanders getting at, that majority black public schools have all bad kids? He says "if they were zoned for one" as if majority black public schools are all in dicey neighborhoods and you would be afraid for your children to attend them.

What he's saying is (most) white people wouldn't send their kid to a majority black school. He's saying nothing about the quality of the neighborhood nor is he in any way putting down black children. He's calling out white people. I've seen it first hand growing up in Oakland and living in SF. White parents, no matter how progressive they think they are, sent their kids to private school or moved to a surrounding suburb with "good" (and far less diverse) public schools. That's what he is referring to.

Sanders talks about "everyday routines and big life decisions." IMO everyday comments like the one about sending your kids to majority black public schools don't help anything. The implication is that they're bad because black kids go there.

His point it this. There are (white) people who say they care, want good public schools etc. But they wouldn't actually send their kid to a majority black school that let's say is under performing and then get involved, help fund raise and do all the things that can help turn that school around. That's what he's calling out. He's saying if you really cared you would do that. And he's saying people don't. (And it's true.)

Sanders is a progressive gay black man. He's not calling out black people. He's calling out white people that think racism only revolves around the President and not the other things in life. And he's using schooling as an example.

So the White Supremacist-In-Chief dully read someone else's speech, POW-like, blaming the latest carnage in El Paso and Dayton, which he called Toledo, on video games, the Internet, "mentally ill monsters." But everyone knows who to blame: Trump - the racist who's run over 2,000 Facebook campaign ads slamming the "invasion" of immigrants, the accessory to the crime who fans the flames by calling for "the good old days" of unbridled violence against "the other," the "ethical black hole" and POS of a human being so lacking in common decency there's no there there, just a foul breeze blowing. In El Paso, enraged and grieving residents fashioned "diabolical" Trump pinatas and carried signs reading "Silence Is Violence" and viewed him as precisely what he is - an accomplice to white nationalist terrorism. "Trump is a cruel, cruel man," said one Mexican-American. "He’s a bad man. I don’t believe in the devil, but, if there’s such a thing, it’s him.”

The cartoons are an obviously futile effort to post something that you might be able to understand.

Yep, and in other countries too. Where, coincidentally, there are also just as many ppl living with mental illness. Yet -- no constant mass shootings like we enjoy. Hmmm, what do you suppose the difference might be?
The "difference" might be differences in culture and how they raise their children. Being less bloodthirsty capitalist might have something to do with it.

How is racism connected to immigration? Do certain races come from certain places? While most Mexicans are white for example, there are a few other races who are Mexican as well. Immigrants are not a race, they are many races.
But the ones who are constantly demonized are generally not white or at least are not perceived to be white.

Culture can definitely play a role. Not sure about "bloodthirsty" capitalist. You can look at the stress a number of countries put on their kids to succeed which is basically capitalism.

What I do know is there were alienated kids when I was growing up as well as access to guns. Yet we didn't have the school and mass shootings in near the numbers we have today. Something changed. An alienated kid before could vent to his friends or small groups but now they have access to the world and can have their manifesto's read across the planet and they will be remembered for ever etc. etc.

Wow, you finally named yourself

I am almost proud of you Kenny the racist.

Once again the left wants to show that there is no connection between outside influences/messages and one's behavior.
Good. So, those who don't like Trump can just ignore him. :awesome:
Doesn't have the faintest idea what's being said.

you're a lost cause aren't you?

racism is only alive in the heads of racists, and you.

you and your nut**bags actually outnumber actual racists.

you're the problem, liberal policy is the problem

so grow up, or stfu
While some liberal policies could use some revision, it's largely conservative policies, such as the failed War on Drugs, that are responsible for much of the current mess.

you're not sure what you are are you,

one of those , "I'm my own person" phonies.

will get you nowhere int he real world, looks good at parties among your fellow nutters I guess
"hello Margret, did you hear the new jazz quartet was playing down at the club this weekend"
You are clearly incapable of rational thought. All you can do is parrot back what your GOP masters have told you to think. The GOP is your identity. Without the GOP, you don't exist.

He's on track to beat Obama in every way. Tax money wasted on golf outings and vacations. Public mass shootings. Increase in the national debt. So much winning! Too bad it's the country that's losing.

Exactly!

I'm pretty sure that the U.S. and Europe share very similar, western Judeo-Christian, capitalist, and sometimes nationalist as well -- values and cultures. Many also have a culture of enjoying hunting and the shooting sports. Their divorce and single-parent rates are similar to ours. Their cities are ethnically and culturally diverse. Their kids play the same video games. Yet where are *their* frequent mass shootings?

"Less mass shootings under Trump!"
— Ron Tusler on Sunday, August 4th, 2019 in a Facebook post

Pants on Fire: State rep claims mass shootings are down under Trump

...Wisconsin state Rep. Ron Tusler was on Facebook claiming mass shootings are down under President Donald Trump.

"Less mass shootings under Trump! His base doesn't hate anyone," declared Tusler, R-Harrison, in a since-deleted post. The text accompanied a re-posting of a chart shared by another person that showed 24 mass shootings under President Barack Obama and four shootings under Trump. That’s quite the disparity.

Tusler’s claim is ridiculous on multiple fronts. For one, the data it references is badly outdated. The chart in Tusler’s post is pulled from a Spring 2018 article in National Affairs, a quarterly journal from the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank.

The broader issue with both the chart and Tusler’s claim is the use of raw numbers to compare one partial term under Trump to two full terms under Obama.
Simple tallies will, of course, be larger over a longer time period. So what are those tallies? And how does Tusler’s claim about less shootings hold up to a better comparison, such as mass shootings per year?

Mass shootings since 1981
