Because I don't read trash like Mother Jones, especially after they admitted the phony story about the fraternity house rape.
Besides, what is your point? If he lied and was confirmed anyway, they are not going to impeach him after taking office. There are no efforts to even begin impeachment proceedings, do not have even close to a majority and can never get a 2/3 Senate vote to convict.

Ah, so this is the reasoning for letting a rapist not only go free but to be seated on the Supreme Court? A technicality prevents a complete investigation so dodged a bullet? Well, it is true that most rapists are never forced to answer for their crimes. Very few rapists are ever caught and punished. Especially seeing as how we continue to put them on the Supreme Court.
He was not accused of rape but of "groping." There is no technicality preventing a complete investigation. There is no statute of limitations on assault with intent to commit rape. First the women have to come forward and make a formal accusation and file a complaint. What is stopping them? Police do not investigate without a formal complaint.

The victim is certainly victimized during the act, but then in a long drawn out trial and appeal process, is forced to relive the incident over and over. Few victims are up to that. They just want to put it behind them so they mostly do not report it, or if they do, they don't file charges. They want to move on. It is emotionally overwhelming to have to face their attackers again and again. It must have taken a lot of bravery on the part of Dr Ford to come forward. She did that for her nation. Certainly not her own purposes.

All true, so if nobody is willing to make an accusation the issue is dead. In a criminal trial rules of evidence are stricter than in a civil trial or a congressional hearing. It certainly did nothing to help the nation unless you are willing to believe an unfounded accusation with no evidence for support. When you cannot attack a nominee's qualifications or previous cases, smear his character.

But he is still not going to be impeached. If the (alleged) lies did not stop his confirmation, they are not going to go after him now.
If you can prove his intent was to rape. Assault with the intent to rape did not have a statute of limitations. Somebody has to make a formal accusation first. Then the police will investigate.
Not being federal means they are not the jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute the case. Ford never said she was raped, she was not even disrobed.
"Brett groped me and tried to take off my clothes. He had a hard time because he was so drunk, and because I was wearing a one-piece bathing suit under my clothes," Ford said, after describing how she was pushed into a bedroom on the second floor of the home. "I believed he was going to rape me."
The evidence is there. They were just reporting it. Try again.
