Rapper Lil Wayne facing 10 years prison for being felon with a gun

Democrats restored the voting rights of black felons but not the gun rights.

Cancelled.

No one cares.

He’s made his bed, now go lay in it. Maybe Trumpers might buy his ... ahh, “music”

50 Cent says Trump paid them both large money to support him. Kinda stupid given both of them have a net worth over 10 million each stupid of Trump and anyone else who thinks we get our politics from rappers.

Sold his soul for peanuts when he was already rich. May he rot in Hell.

Fact remains this is another victimless crime. Another fact is we need to redefine what a felony is. Right now it is any crime for which you could have gotten a year or more in prison!!! Make it 20 years i say.

So? Are you in favor of felons, particularly ones with violent records or repeat felonies?

Lil Wayne has priors including:

2008 conviction for felon possessing drugs and firearm AZ Arizona for Christ's sake! A state where nearly anybody can carry!
2009 conviction for felon possessing firearm in NY

Having two priors for felon in possession of a firearm gets him 10 + years. Seems he hasn't learned much in the last decade...

Felonies pretty much need victims. Especially long sentences.

Here it's a felon with a history of felonies committing a felony for which he as multiple prior felonies (possessing a firearm when he is not supposed to). You'd think he'd have gotten a clue after like the second time they smacked him down for it...

That isn't the issue. Who was the victim that qualify it as a felony?

This is a Constitutional issue.

Felonies don't always need a victim when there is the real potential for one to occur. This is one of those crimes where the person has been banned for reason from doing or possessing something. They knew that prior to the offense. It is no different from say a person getting a DUI and having their driver's license revoked but they drive without one anyway.

Now, you might have a reasonable argument here if he had say a prior drug felony but no firearm possession involved. But this guy had TWO (2) prior charges for possession of a firearm when he shouldn't have a firearm! This is his THIRD offense! The guy isn't paying attention.

In other word, there is no victim. Thank you.

There are many "victimless" felonies you can commit. What difference does that make here? You could get say, using my previous example, a DUI, then another within the probation period, then a third after that. The third one is definitely going to get you a felony charge and some serious time. There was no victim involved if you didn't have an accident or something like that. Yet, you get serious time because you keep doing something society says you shouldn't fucking do.

Not sure what you are talking about?

What I'm saying is felon in possession right now with multiple priors gets you double digits of prison time. That's normal, not unusual. This guy has two priors for firearms possession. Even victimless, he's going to get a whopping big sentence. He's likely to get federal time rather than state time too.

Had he been committing a crime that had a victim using that firearm the sentence would likely be double or more what he's looking at right now given his priors. Three time loser with a gun is mega time on its own. This is at least his third felony charge and that's how it is. Three strikes and you are out for the count...

The point is that felony involves victims. Who was the victim here?

This is why you don't carry guns or weed on planes today.
Me? Last time I flew to Miami I took a gun and a 1/2 OZ of herbs. That's 2 bags for the uninitiated.
Yeah..those days are gone.
I was going to be there for some time and I knew it.
