Ask the journalist.
No, I would like your opinion. This incident actually took place. So tell me, was what happened (as I described it) WRONG or was it NOT WRONG ?

I have seen & heard a lot of things said on the internet.......... LOTS
You really gotta work to get banned most places, including here.......... If you get your ass kicked off "the internet" it must be a wee bit, or a whole lot more than the mundane bs we have witnessed since algore invented the internet
Fuckwits do.
I had a parochial education 1-7 grade. I got into trouble often for questioning. I had to talk to Fr. Telegdy once and that’s when I learned to go along to get along. I finally convinced my folks that public school would be a better fit for me, and they agreed.I would be dubious of a Baptist school. That Protestant denomination seems to be affiliated with temples to ignorance, like Creation Science Museum and Noah's Ark theme park.
On the flipside, I have friends and acquaintances who received exceptional educations at Catholic universities like Georgetown, Notre Dame, Boston College, The Catholic University of America. A few friends went to Catholic high schools.

I heard rumours that discipline in parochial schools was terrifying, at least back in the day when I was school age. I heard some rumours of knuckles being whacked with yard sticks!
On the flipside side, there are Christian schools which provide an excellent secular, liberal education. A lot of presidents have sent their children to Sidwell Friends Quaker school, and a daughter of an acquaintance of mine was keen to go to the Quaker Bryn Mawr College.
I remember in first grade hearing some screams of kids getting paddled with some Medieval device, but in the subsequent years it seems like corporeal punishment became illegal in public schoolsI got my ass paddled several times at secular schools. Beating children in schools was normal in the Sixties.
I witnessed a teacher break a paddle on a boys backside. Corporal punishment was a norm. “Grab your ankles” is what he yelled. BrutalI got my ass paddled several times at secular schools. Beating children in schools was normal in the Sixties.
