Rep. Alexandria Occasion Cortez has 20zK in student loan debt

The tax cuts were the same for all those with the same income is the point. Everybody at that income pays the same tax rate.

So that's moving the bar.

Before, you said plainly that the tax cuts were equitable.

Then you added in that qualifier after realizing they weren't.

The tax cuts were not equitable at all.

It is not a conflict of interest to vote for tax cuts that apply to all Americans.

They don't apply to all Americans. Those in the bottom brackets saw their rates go up.

You are so fucking lazy.

One gets nothing from the government other than getting to keep more of his own income.

But they don't keep more of their income because household debt levels increase and personal savings decrease every single time taxes have been cut the last 40 years.

Every. Single. Time.

The other is getting thousands in benefits for loans they now want somebody else to repay.

So...here's the thing...forgiving student loan debt is what truly lets people keep more of what they earned without those people having to spend more out of pocket for essential services like they end up doing because of tax cuts.

If they're not having to spend $300, $500, $1,000 a month on student loans, what would they spend that money on instead? Buying a car. Buying a home. Spending in the consumer economy to create jobs. Getting married. Starting a family. All things that grow an economy. All things that lead to higher profits for corporations. All things economic stimulus.

Forgiving student loan debt would be the biggest economic stimulus since the New Deal.

So it's easy to see why you oppose it; the economics are good, therefore you don't like it out of principle.

So again, we'll nominate Sanders or Warren, have them forgive student debt, and you can vote for Trump to teach us all a lesson, mmmkay?

“Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made a student loan payment on Tuesday — and also revealed how much she still owes — while attending a congressional hearing on college debt.

“I literally made a student loan payment while I was sitting here at this chair, and I looked at my balance, and it was $20,237.16,” said the New York lawmaker. “I just made a payment that took me down to $19,000 so I feel really accomplished right now.”

Ocasio-Cortez, a Boston University graduate, was attending a House Financial Services Committee hearing on the estimated $1.5 trillion in student debt in the country. Consumer advocates, experts and public figures testified on different ways to bring the number down.

Ocasio-Cortez is one of nearly 70 members of Congress who are still paying off student loans for themselves or a dependent — with an average debt burden of $37,000. Eight lawmakers are said to have more than $100,000 in debt.

“I’m hearing people on this committee say it’s not our job,” Ocasio-Cortez said, referring to testimony from Republicans during the hearing. “This is our job.”

This is a clear conflict of interest by her and the other Democrats who have unpaid student loans.

They want taxpayers to pay their loans. Conflict of interest.

Whats the big fucking deal?

"She AGREED" to pay it back when she took the loan out

“I just made a payment that took me down to $19,000 so I feel really accomplished right now.”

WTF? You agreed to pay the loan!!!! So pay it back bitch and STFU about it

You're the one who stupidly said the tax cut was equitable for everyone.

You were fucking wrong.

Now you're acting like a crybaby because of it.

What a fucking waste.

Wrong Again. I said the tax cuts apply equally to everyone. All those with the same income pay the same tax rate.

That is very different than saying the tax cuts apply to everybody except members of Congress who are forgiven for any taxes they owe.

Again, you are deflecting from the topic of whether it would be a conflict of interest for Cortez to vote on a bill forgiving her student loan debt.

Even domer76 says she should recuse herself.

Anybody who think Cortez's vote will affect the outcome of such a bill is divorced from reality. It is an obvious attempt to buy the support of people who don't want to pay their debts.

A stimulus creates a temporary benefit at the expense of long-term debt. If I did not have to pay a mortgage or car note I would have more money to spend also, but I don't expect to be a deadbeat and let other Americans pay for my debts.

What do people do with the money from tax cuts? They also buy homes, cars, etc. which also increases their debt that you complain about the same as the increased debt people would incur from buying homes and cars with their student loan money.

You just favor it because it buys votes for Democrats while putting the nation further in debt.

I bet Cortez's economics professors were groaning when she said unemployment is low because a lot of people have two jobs.

She needs to demand her tuition back from Boston U. and then she would have no more debt. She doesn't need a degree for Congress or bartending.

the closest you Trumpanesses got to college is the college tee shirt section at walmart

LOL!

No, Flash.

You added that qualifier after saying it was equitable for everyone, and after I pointed out that it wasn't.

And not everyone pays the same rate!

And for those at the bottom, their rates went UP!

You're so lazy.

No, it's not.

I'm not deflecting from the topic....this is all part of the same topic. You want to myopically narrow it down to loans, and then when a parallel is drawn with tax cuts, you first overstep and misspeak, then you start adding in qualifiers to retcon your shitty argument.

You're a hack.

If I did not have to pay a mortgage or car note I would have more money to spend also, but I don't expect to be a deadbeat and let other Americans pay for my debts.

FFS Flash, did you not read a fucking thing I just said? Buying a house or a car is what we want people to do because that's consumer spending.

Paying student loans or medical debt isn't consumer spending.

What a fucking idiot.

They also buy homes, cars, etc.

No they don't!

They don't buy homes or cars with tax cuts because the tax cuts are so nominal for most people that they get wiped out by inflation, or the get wiped out by increased out of pocket costs for health care and education that come from budget deficits caused by tax cuts.

Forgiving student loan debt doesn't do that.

which also increases their debt that you complain about the same as the increased debt people would incur from buying homes and cars with their student loan money.

Buying a home or a car is consumer spending.

The economy grows from consumer spending.

If you forgive student loans, then the money they would spend on student loans, they would instead spend in the consumer market.

If you don't cut taxes, that doesn't force cuts to spending, which doesn't result in higher out of pocket spending on non-consumer goods like health care and education. So the forgiveness of the student loan frees up money for 37 million people to spend freely in the consumer market.

Again, the economics on this are simple and make sense...which is why you oppose it and are seeking to make an emotional argument over a matter of your stupid, fungible, ever-changing principles.

You just favor it because it buys votes for Democrats while putting the nation further in debt.

Forgiving student loan debt is funded by wealth taxes and taxes on financial transactions, just like Warren and Sanders' plans say.

So again, this is another example of you being a lazy fucking asshole, making lazy fucking arguments, because you're too fucking lazy to know what you're debating.

Laziness.

I bet Cortez's economics professors were groaning when she said unemployment is low because a lot of people have two jobs.

You would lose that bet because she's 100% correct.

he needs to demand her tuition back from Boston U. and then she would have no more debt. She doesn't need a degree for Congress or bartending.

You're a lazy fucking joke who makes purely emotional arguments because you lack any formal knowledge or education on the subject.

Neither LV426 nor Cortez understands that unemployment numbers on based on the number employed, not by how many jobs they hold. A person with two jobs does not count as two employed people.

Tax cuts did not force cuts to spending--spending has increased.

If a person has more money to spend because his taxes were reduced or he no longer has to make payments on his student loan, those are both consumer spending.

Unless he pays cash for his car and home, he is also incurring more debt and reducing his savings because of those payments on his car and home.

Unless spending is cut, both tax cuts and forgiving debt are fiscally irresponsible. But one method does not excuse entitled college students from loans they want the wealthy to pay. That is greed at its worst.

What budget cuts occurred?

A wealth tax is stupid and forgiving student loans is stupid and we both know they are not going to happen. You want to create a generation of fiscally irresponsible entitled brats that want the wealthy to pay for things they want but are unwilling to pay for themselves. Just the Democrats buying votes.
