Serena Williams proves she is a liberal Nut-Bag

Who was in charge while this Russian attack against America was going on

You wish to avoid the query?

Why can't Don keep this black woman in line? Not superior at all.

You with the Russiagate crowd now?

DHS Undersecretary Chris Krebs testified before a senate committee hearing that all they found was "scanning" which he testified goes on all the time "probably on your own website too senator".

Sorry, I got a governmental authoritarian power structure that perped the greatest conspiracy theory of all time; the Iraq War.

The aristocracy is much more of a threat than Russia at this point it time.

The initial code violation for coaching was slightly BS, it's rarely enforced and there are instances of much more obvious coaching than a hand signal that have not been enforced.

What makes you think it's rarely enforced? Keep in mind that just in that single tournament two other players also got warnings for coaching violations -- they didn't make the news because, unlike Serena, they didn't demand an apology for being caught cheating.

When the cheating is subtle, it's hard to catch. A coach who is careful to signal only when his player is looking his way and the umpire isn't will normally get away with it. But, sometimes players are caught. And when that happens, they get a warning and then focus on not violating the code a second time in the same match, so they get away without a point loss. Williams, instead, forced the umpire's hand by destroying her own racket in a temper tantrum, knowing full well that would be a second code violation. Then, when she got that, she started verbally abusing the umpire. He ignored it for a while, but then when she kept doing it and escalating the abuse, he eventually issued a third code violation.

She may not have even seen the coaching (of course, she would always claim that one way or the other).

First, it's reasonable to expect she did see it, since her coach wouldn't have risked giving the signal unless he thought she was looking at him. Second, it doesn't matter. Sending coaching signals is cheating whether it succeeds or fails. By the rules, the player is responsible for the coach's code violation.

It's just a shitty rule that's rarely enforced (literally you will often have coaches and athletes screaming to one another with the umpires not giving a shit).

I'm all for eliminating the rule. The quality of play would be higher if coaches could coach during the match, the same as in most sports. For that matter, I'm all for changing a whole bunch of tennis rules. I think it's stupid there's a prissy dress code, and I think it's dumb that the crowd is supposed to be quiet (baseball players can hit a ball with tens of thousands of fans screaming at the top of their lungs), etc. I also think men's rackets should be redesigned to slow the game, so there's more focus on endurance, precision, and strategy, rather than there being so many aces, which just rewards the guy who can hit his serve the hardest.

But tennis has its roots in an aristocratic pastime, and some of the rules still reflect those origins, rather than its current status as a highly athletic professional spectator's sport. For now, the rules are what they are, and a player who gets caught breaking a rule she objects to should focus on getting the rule changed, rather than accusing the rule enforcer of being sexist.

By the way, here's an interesting fact: in the tournament, 86 code violations were given to men, compared with 22 for women. There's evidence of sexism there, but not the way Williams's defenders are picturing it. Unless there's evidence that the women are, in fact, much better behaved than the men, it appears that the officials are going easier on violations by women than ones by men.
