So, You Want $15 An Hour?

Did you bother to read my OP?

Ten years ago there would be eight to ten cashier's at the front of the store. Three weeks ago there were two, and self-serve kiosks were handling the rest. Wal-Mart is moving towards 100% self-serve kiosks...

So they still have cashiers. And those cashiers are being paid starting wages. So your statement was demonstrably and objectively false. And you call ME stupid? Damn skippy, you crack me up.

My local Walmart just put in a huge number of self-service checkout counters.
They had about 15-20.
Now they have about 35-40.
And I rarely see more than a few, human checkout lanes open now.

It's definitely the future.

Though I notice that the Walmarts in the wealthier areas tend to have more self-service checkouts.
In the lower income areas - it seems to be the opposite.

They're experimenting with it.

The future is a reawakening of love human to human, and a rejection of objectifying humanity out of existence.

what's liberal about you?

You seem like a typical neocon fascist anti-human.

:) I'm being pragmatic here and trying to discuss the present Reality.

--->In the face of Automation, importing Third World Labor into the US ISN'T in the interest of the American Worker.

Neither are.

globalization mass formation psychosis is coming to a end.

I like the Humanoids. I can engage in conversation with them.

Not me.
Never have.

When I worked those sorts of jobs?
I was encouraged to make conversation with the customers - whether I felt like it or not.

So I don't want to have fake conversations with people whom are just doing it because they are encouraged to by management.
I want real, purely voluntary conversations.
Or none at all.

Plus, I love gadgets and I like doing things myself.

But, each to his/her own.

Dan. Stop with the 'Red Team/Blue Team' shit. Unproductive. 'Lower Costs' = Automation, Outsourcing, Importing Third World Labor.
All three affect the American Worker.
Stop with the ad hominems instead any valid arguments based on economics. With equal protection of our own laws, your bias is irrelevant and with faith execution of our own laws, the Poor would have more chance to move up locally instead of having to emigrant due to safety concerns due to inequality issues.

I see the Cashiers ... and I see the Machines that will be replacing them ... soon.
It's like the Gas Station Attendants that used to come out and check the oil while they filled up your gas tank.
Nostalgia. Watching the 'Future' unfold before your eyes.
I think they know their Fate is sealed.
Do they have a Plan B?

Smarter cars could arbitrage themselves into an appointment with a mechanic.

Dan. At what level is the 'Cut=Off' point?
One Million?
Ten Million?
Fifty Million?
One Hundred Million?
Five Hundred Million?

And is YOUR Cut-Off point based on 'racism'? Or is it economic reality?

It's not about chit chat. It's about jobs for humans.

What are you talking about? Cut off for what? We have no Immigration clause in our federal Constitution. Why are You going along with right-wing fantasy?

I am fine with equal protection of our own laws and unemployed Labor being able to collect unemployment compensation until they acquire enough skills to command the job and wage they would prefer.

UBI is what will/is needed. There will be no other way to feed the unemployed.
So, we are at the point where we can decide how many people to send Checks to in the Future.

We need a market friendly means to solve for the deleterious capital effects of Capitalism's natural rate of unemployment using existing legal and physical infrastructure.
