Then you "heroically" chose to serve in a role where you know you'd never see combat, and never be put at risk. But you lie to yourself to convince you that doing a job 15,000 civilians do every day was "protecting freedom".

No. As we saw 3 years ago, the attacks happen in cyberspace.

Climate change and pandemics pose a greater threat than any military. Our Nukes have pretty much rendered everything else moot, and MAD really makes the concept of massive, standing armies irrelevant.

Our $700B military couldn't protect us from 19 hijackers armed with boxcutters; it couldn't protect us from Russian teenage hackers in St. Petersburg; it couldn't protect us from Hurricane Maria killing 4000 people in Puerto Rico, or Hurricane Katrina killing thousands in New Orleans.

It's a welfare program to make unemployable bumpkins employable, and to make defense contractors rich.
