According our received ‘epidemiological wisdom’ Sweden was supposed to be a hellish disaster by now, with people dying in the streets and bringing out their dead like in the famous Python skit.

Someone forgot to tell Sweden—or maybe they forgot to tell the China Virus.

Sweden appears to winning vs COVID while parts of lockdown-happy Europe are seeing big spikes. How does Team Panic explain this?

Anyone using Trump's propaganda word, "China Virus," has no right to discuss science or facts.
 
Over 85% of the population adheres to social distancing guidelines.

They have roughly 30% of the social interactions that they did previously.

Trump's America is incapable of that.

Maybe ‘Trump’s Europe’ lol, has the same problem because they’re having a resurgence and Sweden isn’t.

I know it’s difficult but try and forget Trump for a minute. What other possible explanation is there?

The problem with your explanation is Sweden’s 85% compliance rate wasn’t working too hot—and they were taking heat for not sacrificing their economy over COVID. Sweden lost a lot of people—in the identical population everyone else was/has. More than their immediate neighbors.

So, if Sweden’s voluntary mitigation wasn’t working—that is not a argument for mandated mitigation. Mitigation is mitigation, whether it’s voluntary or mandated.

By the time NYC mitigated it was too late to matter—assuming it would have made a significant difference had they not: the virus was so well established by mid-March all mitigation did was lock down infected people with uninfected people in densely populated buildings—and the results were predictable.

Something else may be going on—seems obvious to me.
