In 2013, while applying for tenancy at 23 Essex Street Chambers, he lied during an interview.


An interviewer (mistakenly believing Mohindru had attended Oxford) asked if he had a cricket blue there; Mohindru said yes.


He then edited and submitted a CV claiming he had studied “Medicine, Oxford University, 1993-1994.”


He had not attended Oxford (he studied medicine-related programs elsewhere, including St George’s University).


The Bar Standards Board (BSB) later received an anonymous complaint in 2021.


A disciplinary tribunal in September/October 2025 found the dishonesty proved, ordered his disbarment, and imposed costs (initially ~£55k, later reduced). He was suspended pending appeal.


In June 2026, the High Court (Mr Justice Johnson) allowed his appeal against the sanction. The disbarment was quashed and replaced with a suspension that had already been served (roughly 8.5 months, from October 2025 until the judgment date of 30 June 2026). He was free to return to practice.
