I can't claim to be an expert on Texas, but my in-laws live there and I work with investors there so I spend time in the state.
Take this board as a proxy. Go back over the past decade and look at how many threads there are proclaiming Texas was turning purple, if not going to turn blue.
Yet Democrats haven't won a statewide election since like the mid '90's I believe.
Cornyn would have rolled Tallarico. IF the Democrats are going to win a statewide election, this race will be it.

Paxton has had lots of charges and accusations against him in a short career, He has made multi-million dollar payoffs to settle cases. He abused people working in his office. He has nothing to recommend a vote for him.

The best analogy I can offer you is Spencer Pratt and L.A. It doesn't matter how poor of a job Bass has done, the chances of a Republican winning in L.A. are low.
It doesn't matter how corrupt Paxton is, the odds of a Democrat winning statewide in Texas are low. IF it were to happen, this will likely be the race.
