Totally random but we're going to Dallas to visit the in-laws. One person in my building responded "I'm so sorry you're going to Trump country." Another said "your (21 month old) daughter better not come Republican."

It's a mindset of everything is political and one I don't understand. I mean I'm worried about the 100 degree temps and the humidity, not how people there vote. To each his own but that's not for me

I think Dallas might have a Democratic mayor, but I could be wrong.

This kind of parochial regionalism has been going on since time immemorial.

When I lived in Texas, do you know how often I was on the receiving end of disparaging comments about California, the land of fruits, nuts, dirty hippies and PC liberals? My only option was to return fire with a retort about buck-toothed redneck hillbillys! In fact, in those days I wish I had those national statistics about overweight and under-educated southern states, because that intel would have been like tactical nuclear weapons in my hands.

I used to even call a former poster here a NorCal Nazi, because of his smug northern California elitism! So let's face it man, regional rivalries based on politics is basically just part of the human DNA, and all we can do is try to think up superior insults, chap!

It would be a simple thing to present the objective evidence of any Republican in history that owned a slave. Go for it. Out of the approx. 4 million slaves all were owned by democrats in both the south and the north. The Big Lie....its conservatives that supports slavery. As Lincoln said, Slavery can be summed up easily, "You grow the corn, I eat it.....". Which party today uses this as a political philosophy demanding that "You work, I eat..."? Who demands wealth redistribution through force..i.e., TAXATION?

Leading up to this event the constant drumbeat from the left was "there will be hoards of Trump supporting white nationalists converging on DC...." the reality? 10s of 10s of idiots showed up, vastly out numbered by the democrat wing of the modern violent terrorist group....ANTIFA. 2 fascist groups, one common denominator.....both originated under the wing of demonrat leadership.

The city of Dallas voted for Clinton over Trump I believe. To each his own on their beliefs but not everything is political to me nor do I generally define people by their politics. There's much more to life than the political party we are registered to.

Edit: Sure, on a political message board the focus will be on politics but I still believe people can be individuals and not just cogs in the machine

Of course, you know as much as I do that between 1865 and 2018, the political parties switched ideologies and bases. So that the people who are Republicans today are the people who were Democrats before Civil Rights.

You guys do since you're the ones redistributing wealth to the top with your tax cuts that haven't produced any jobs or wage gains like you promised.

Last year, there were 500 Trump Conservative Nazis marching. This year, it was 20.

How come there was such a large drop-off?
