TEXAS DEMOCRATS NOW DECLARE BLACK TEXANS TOO STUPID TO OBTAIN IDs.

Posting an idiotic video is your version of tearing something to shreds? ROFLMAO. I wonder what you do when you agree with something? Post an idiotic video?

YOU HAVEN'T PRODUCED A SINGLE EXAMPLE OF A LEGAL VOTER WHO WILL NOT BE ABLE TO VOTE UNDER THE PROPOSED TEXAS LAW....OR EVEN THEIR CURRENT ONE, FOR THAT MATTER. DIPSHIT.

Federal appellate court upholds Texas voter ID law

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld Texas' voter identification law, reversing a lower court ruling that found it discriminated against voters of color
.

Amid efforts to prove Texas' embattled voter ID law is discriminatory, a federal appeals panel on Friday OK'd state lawmakers' efforts to rewrite the law last year to address faults previously identified by the courts.

On a 2-1 vote, a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a lower court’s ruling that tossed out the state's revisions through Senate Bill 5. The lower court had said the changes did not absolve Texas lawmakers from responsibility for discriminating against voters of color when they crafted one of the nation’s strictest voter ID laws in 2011.

But the Legislature "succeeded in its goal" of addressing flaws in the voter ID law in 2017, Judge Edith Jones wrote in the majority opinion for the divided panel, and the lower court acted prematurely when it "abused its discretion" in ruling to invalidate SB 5.

The 5th Circuit panel’s ruling is a major victory for the state after years of losses in an almost seven-year legal battle over its restrictions on what forms of identification are accepted at the polls.

NAME ONE LEGAL VOTER WHO CANNOT GET AN ID....NOW, OR WHO WILL BE UNABLE TO, DUE TO THE PROPOSED TEXAS LAW..

Any real conservative would not favor the state mandating what local counties and jurisdictions can do regarding voting times and locations. Counties have being doing a good job of this for years.

Now TX wants centralized government control over local government voting regulations and can give no good reasons for doing so except they are afraid more Democrats will vote.

Most people do not want reduced voter hours whether it has anything to do with race or not.

But again, this law did not pass and the legislature does not meet again until 2023. It does have to call a special session for redistricting.

THE STATE IS WHO DETERMINES THE "MANNER OF ELECTIONS"...NOT "THE COUNTIES", WHICH ARE FAR MORE PRONE TO PARTISAN CORRUPTION, JUST DUE TO THEIR NATURE.

LIKE ANY "REAL CONSERVATIVE", I SIDE WITH THE US CONSTITUTION.

STILL WAITING FOR ALL THE "SUPPRESSION and RACISM" IN THE PROPOSED TEXAS LAW...
.

NAME ONE LEGAL VOTER WHO CANNOT GET AN ID....NOW, OR WHO WILL BE UNABLE TO, DUE TO THE PROPOSED TEXAS LAW..

It's funny that you should argue that legal voters can't get ID's when the law specifically allows people without ID's to vote. Why would people without ID's be able to vote if everyone has an ID?

LOOK AT YOUR DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO RUN AWAY FROM THE FACT THAT YOU CANNOT PROVE A SINGLE LEGAL VOTER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO VOTE DUE TO THE PROPOSED TEXAS LAW, OR EVEN THE CURRENT ONE.

SMOKE MUCH CRACK? YOU'RE THE MORON WHO KEEPS CLAIMING LEGAL VOTERS "CANNOT OBTAIN IDs.....BULLSHIT WHICH THE COURTS FINALLY PUT AN END TO.
POST#81

ID required for Texas Voters

If you possess one of the following forms of acceptable
photo ID, you must present it when voting in person:*
• Texas Driver License issued by the Texas
Department of Public Safety (DPS)
• Texas Election Identification Certificate
issued by DPS
• Texas Personal Identification Card issued
by DPS
• Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
• United States Military Identification Card
containing your photograph
• United States Citizenship Certificate containing your photograph
• United States Passport (book or card)
Do not possess and cannot reasonably obtain one of these IDs? Fill out a
declaration at the polls describing a reasonable impediment to obtaining it,
and show a copy or original of one of the following supporting forms of ID:
A government document that shows your name and an
address, including your voter registration certificate;
Current utility bill;
Bank statement;
Government check;
Paycheck; or
(a) A certified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth
certificate or (b) a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes your identity (which may
include a foreign birth document)

YOU ELEVATE UNINFORMED TO AN ARTFORM.

So the Democrats walk out of the Texas House so there isn't a quorum to take a vote. So Abbot is cutting off paychecks till they do their jobs that Texans paid them to do. Also he is calling a special session meaning they will have to come back to Austin to work. We will see how long they will go without paychecks.

Texas has 254 different counties we can't have 254 different sets of election laws. Citizens are guaranteed equal protection under the laws. What you are advocating is illegal not to mention just insane. :rofl2:

I believe that OPie is trying to take one viewpoint that not a lot of Democrats or Republicans share- being the ID Card voting issue- and make the New Red-State Voter Supression laws center around that one viewpoint

Let me just say, that I believe in identification cards, for more than just one reason. I believe that if you don't have a driver's license and you are 18 YO or older, you should have another form of ID with your photo- in the form of a personal ID card.

This is not a political view of mine. This is not a racist opinion of mine.

It's like the clean underwear thing- Be sure you wear clean underwear when you go out anywhere, because you never know what could happen- kind of mentality.

Same goes for the ID card thing!

So I am not against having a law that requires you to show a picture ID of yourself at the polling station where you vote.

BUT I AM ALSO NOT IN FAVOR OF THE MANY OTHER STUPID LAWS THAT ARE BEING DRAFTED INTO LAW IN THE REDDEST STATES OF AMERICA THAT ARE ENGINEERED TO SUPPRESS THE VOTES OF MINORITIES.

But I think you should show a pictured ID card to be able to cast your vote in this country.

They don't have different sets of election laws. The counties, due to very different circumstances in counties of 67 or 3.8 million have the power to determine the number of voting precincts, their location, whether they need drive-through drop-off boxes, etc. These are the decisions of the county clerk or commissioner's court. Some counties have individual voting precincts and others use county-wide voting.

The point is that the state is limiting the flexibility of counties to make election decisions--reducing local control.

Counties have on the power that the Texas legislature grants them and the Texas legislature has the SAME SET OF RULES FOR EVERY COUNTY TO WORK BY. Counties cannot make their own sets of rules.

WITH ALL YOUR BULLSHIT , WE NOTICE YOU FAILED TO CITE AN IOTA OF ACTUAL RACISM IN THE PROPOSED TEXAS LAW.

HOW IS ANYONE BEING "SUPPRESSED"?

COLOR ME SURPRISED.

ONCE AGAIN; THE CONSTITUTION IS CLEAR: THE STATES DETERMINE THE MANNER OF THEIR ELECTIONS.
