TEXAS DEMOCRATS NOW DECLARE BLACK TEXANS TOO STUPID TO OBTAIN IDs.

WITH ALL YOUR BULLSHIT , WE NOTICE TOU FAILED TO CITE AN IOTA OF ACTUAL RACISM IN THE PROPOSED TEXAS LAW.

HOW IS ANYONE BEING "SUPPRESSED"?

COLOR ME SURPRISED.

When you shut down the number of polling stations in minority areas only- WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT IN YOUR OPINION?

ARE YOU DUMB?

Counties have on the power that the Texas legislature grants them and the Texas legislature has the SAME SET OF RULES FOR EVERY COUNTY TO WORK BY. Counties cannot make their own sets of rules.

They don't make up their own set of rules, but those rules allow some flexibility of local jurisdictions in administering the elections.

Also, the same set of rules do not apply to every county. For example:

"...the commissioners court of a county with a population of more than 175,000 may not designate a location as a polling place that would require a voter in the precinct to travel more than 25 miles from the voter's residence to the polling place."

ONCE AGAIN; THE CONSTITUTION IS CLEAR: THE STATES DETERMINE THE MANNER OF THEIR ELECTIONS.

Counties are units that administer state law. State law gives some flexibility of local jurisdictions in administering elections.

Also, it is not exclusively the jurisdiction of states to determine the manner of their elections:

"The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators."

The Texas legislature did not allow drive thru voting. All voting places are within 25 miles.

Separation of church and state.

Your religion has nothing to do with voting.

Yes keep the State away from the Church, which was the original intention, not vice versa or else clergy and Christians couldn't serve, which of course they do! By the way show that phrasing in the Constitution(Separation of Church and State)

Texas law does not prohibit drive-thru voting. The only issue is that voting must be inside a "building" and the tents used do not qualify. However, drive-thru voting was allowed at the Toyota Center because it is inside the parking garage of a building.

Nearly 127,000 Harris County drive-thru votes appear safe after federal judge rejects GOP-led Texas lawsuit

"A federal judge Monday rejected a request by a conservative activist and three Republican candidates to toss out nearly 127,000 votes cast at drive-thru polling sites in Texas’ most populous county, which is largely Democratic.

You need to ask the Republicans who now want to change that provision. But, the law does not affect white votes since they do not have the "souls to the polls" tradition.

It is not a legal issue but one recognizing the tradition of some voters. What do you care if the law allows polls to open at 11:00 or 1:00?
That is a decision to be made by Texas Republicans.

Agreed. Keeping the state away from the church would not allow the state to set voting dates based on the beliefs of one religion.

Nobody claims "separation of church and state" is a phase contained in the Constitution. But, according to the Supreme Court, it is a principle. It means government is to remain neutral and do nothing to help or harm religion.

It does allow the state to recognize widely accepted traditions--such as making Xmas a federal holiday.

Churches aren't supposed to be involved in politics it violates their tax exempt status.

IT'S NOTHING BUT MORE LEFTBULLSHIT.

THERE IS NOTHING IN IT THAT IS "MORE" FOR BLACKS THAN WHITES. THE START TIME WAS A MISPRINT; IT IS 11 INSTEAD OF ONE.

ONLY LEFTIDIOTS CLAIM THAT AFFECTS BLACKS MORE THAN WHITES, AND THE REPUBLICANS SAID NO SUCH THING, BUT FIXED THE TYPO, WHICH IS THE SAME TIME ,FOR BLACKS AND WHITES, DITZOID.

THE CLAIM IT "AFFECTS BLACKS MORE THAN WHITES" WAS THE OPINION OF THE AUTHOR, AND OBVIOUS BULLSHIT.

IF YOU WANT TO PRETEND THAT IT AFFECT BLACK CHURCHGOERS MORE THAN WHITE ONES ,FEEL FREE. I DON'T BUY THE OBVIOUS NONSENSE AS EASILY AS YOU DO.

HOW LONG HAS "SUNDAY VOTING " EVEN BEE A THING??? CAN'T BE THAT LONG...

LEFTISTS ARE SUCH RACE-BAITING IDIOTS.

THEN WHAT ARE YOU BITCHING ABOUT? SHIT YOU PULLED OUT OF YOUR ASS?

Here- I'll just shove this up your ass!

The number of Election Day polling places in largely Democratic parts of major Texas counties would fall dramatically under a Republican proposal to change how Texas polling sites are distributed, a Texas Tribune analysis shows. Voting options would be curtailed most in areas with higher shares of voters of color.

Relocating polling sites is part of the GOP’s priority voting bill — Senate Bill 7 — as it was passed in the Texas Senate. It would create a new formula for setting polling places in the handful of mostly Democratic counties with a population of 1 million or more. Although the provision was removed from the bill when passed in the House, it remains on the table as a conference committee of lawmakers begins hammering out a final version of the bill behind closed doors.

Under that provision, counties would be required to distribute polling places based on the share of registered voters in each state House district within the county. The formula would apply only to the state’s five largest counties — Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, Bexar and Travis — and possibly Collin County once new census figures are released later this year.
