I don't know from Nikki Haley, but I do know that most Indian-American citizens are proud of their culture and heritage and keep the names given to them by their parents. They look down on those who Americanize their names to "Nikki" and "Bobby" as if turning their backs on their roots and trying to be something they're not. If "crackas" fit... well then it fits.

She can call herself Trumpelthinskin if she wants; I could not care less. I was merely pointing out what other ppl of Indian heritage believe. Indians are fairly caste- and status-conscious; the Americanizing of names is sometimes seen as an attempt to hide membership in a lower status group. But mostly it's seen as a rejection of their identity. Do you know any actual Indian ppl?
