Sorry about such a long pause in responding. I Don't disagree that hip-hop traverses all cultures and is one of the most popular music across the world today. Yes it creates black millionaire+'s and that's a great thing, however I think there is a difference from people enjoying the music vs living the lifestyle.

I think hip-hop has changed. You look at the messages of the past from KRS-One, BDP, as well as groups like Public Enemy. There was a message, there was also songs about the reality. Today it's about an image, and machismo, as well as posturing in ways that sells records.


Here is a parallel from my "subculture". I grew up in the NYC hardcore punk scenes. Bands would sing about positivism, or the reality of the streets, as it became more popular, suddenly "beatdown" became the sub genre that became the forefront. Tough guy hardcore with songs about violence and being tougher than the next guy, with violence, crowd killing, etc. the once relatively non-violent scene became extremely violent because the subculture adopted it.


I'm probably not explaining myself right, but the point is, that I think most of the problems are economic, and subculture related.


I see a lot of mistrust, and I tend to have the view point of asking myself "am I helping someone today" and keep moving forward. We will disagree with causes, realities, and positions, probably very passionately, just remember my impetus is the improvement of others lives. no matter who they are.

Interestingly enough, I had started my IT managed services and security firm around the time I was getting my masters, I ended up staying with that so I'm not a psychologist or some such. Never claimed to be.

That's hilarious, Toxic pretending to be in IT because.... wait for it!..... that's Mr. Owl's field of expertise. The stupidity of believing that one can parlay a "masters in psychology" into an IT career is so ludicrous that only an idiot would fall for that lie. I should ask Toxic Hellwhore an IT question that can't be googled, but then we wouldn't be able to play her like a fish. lol

PS -- Notice that the new claim is "IT and security"? And what was your job before you retired? Bingo.
