Policymakers fear a labor shortage is pushing up wages and prices. Wrong. Real wages are down and workers are struggling
Higher interest rates will harm millions of workers who will be involuntarily drafted into the inflation fight by losing jobs or long-overdue pay raises. There’s no “labor shortage” pushing up wages. There’s a shortage of good jobs paying adequate wages to support working families. Raising interest rates will worsen this shortage.

Trust the experts for one fucking second
Quit trying to tear down and insult every entity this nation created
Well what do you want?
Inflation to keep rising and rising?
You cannot have the Fed keep rates 'artificially' low forever.
And have you seen the Fed's balance sheet?

That is $8 trillion with a 't'.
That also cannot go on forever.
The Fed's ZIRP (Zero Interest Rate Policy) and QE (Quantitative Easing - in all it's forms) was NEVER supposed to be anything more than temporary.
It is just that - like many (including me) knew would happen?
People would get addicted to the 'cheap money/debt'...like an addict.
And now?
You people do not want to stop your addiction.
Well...it HAD to end one day.
So you better get used to it.
It's not like you did not have PLENTY OF TIME (since 2008 when the Fed started going 'all in') to get ready for the party to end.

The Fed is (in theory) independent of the White House. The President shouldn’t be pressuring the Fed about what to do with rates.
yet, who appoints the Fed Head ?
while The Fed is under no obligation to comply with the wished of the White House, they are (in the modern era at least) more or less on the same page.

Yes the President appoints the Fed chairman but (in theory) the Fed chairman is supposed to have a big picture in mind and not just move interests rates because a President has an election coming up and the President only cares about that, not the long term repercussions.
It’s not a good look for the Fed if it is seen as simply doing the bidding of the President.

The idea is for there to be a general agreement on the nature of the Big Picture. The details as to how to bring that picture into focus are somewhat cut and dried.
Powell SAYS he's is all about managing inflation but he keeps extending the pumping which makes it worse but does benefit Wall Street. Actions and words are not reflecting the big picture and Wall Street knows it but they are the beneficiaries so they're not talking about that. Yet...

When the President appoints (or re-appoints) someone then yes, there’s probably going to be some general level of agreement (a hawkish President likely isn’t going to appoint a dove) but that’s similar to a Supreme Court appointment. Once on the SC a justice isn’t going to be consulting with the President about rulings. It’s the same here, the President and Fed Chairman aren’t having meetings to discuss where they think rates should go, whether the Fed should grow or shrink its balance sheet etc.
in theory, no argument. in practice not so much. as I said earlier they wont discuss tactics but rather goals.
Powell SAID in the recent Fed Mtg that his main goal is to manage inflation. Thats the right message for John Q Public.
What Powell DID was to put off stopping pumping and a rate hike which favors Joe Biden's friends on Wall Street for a little while longer.
Powell will likely retain decisions as to the degree of rate hikes making those decisions with his fellow Fed bosses.
This is the nature of the relationship. NOt just Biden of course, they all do this. Usually play a ;ttle game of it as well.
