I am sure it wouldn't have been nearly as bad if trump did not allow 40,000 people into this country from China, without any testing at all. It sure wouldn't have been as bad had not trump allowed unlimited entry into this country from Europe, after being told that he shouldn't do it.
No matter where you look, it all comes back to decisions that trump made, or didn't make. This will be one of the greatest failures in world history.

NY disproportionately does worse than any other state. It doesn't matter how big they are, it doesn't matter any excuse you make. More of Cuomo's patients who have it die from it than any other state.

Just so you know. Your calculation for mortality rate is completely wrong.

Your confirmed cases number is not the total confirmed tests in the country. CDC only lists the confirmed cases from it's influenza surveillance study which gets information from selected labs in various states covering about 8.5% of US population. It doesn't extrapolate the number to cover the entire country. Reporting test results for influenza to CDC is voluntary.
The influenza related deaths come from death certificates submitted to CDC which covers 100% of population since all death certificates are sent to CDC for it's mortality data.

If we assume the testing results is the same for the rest of the population that would give us 2,850,941 confirmed cases and a mortality of 0.84%.

Now you know the rest of the story.
