The insanity and stupidity of the undemocratic Electoral College explained

Look dude, delegating electors in every state to vote in place of individuals is the problem I have with the Electoral process.

I am perfectly capable of weighing candidates and making a selection based on my own observations and selecting who I want to vote for as president! And my vote should represent itself- I DON'T NEED NO STINKING ELECTOR TO VOTE FOR ME.

So yes, there is a delegation process in every state that selects electors to replace the individual voters. It varies on how the states select their electors from state to state.

I am not part of the process to select the elector who will replace my vote- And therefore, I have no idea if they represent my vote or not.

I am an independent voter and do not trust the "ELECTORAL PROCESS"!

Electors could take a bribe from the other party and vote completely in the opposite direction!

That is why the Electoral College is a farce!

They do not replace individual voters. Individuals vote for a slate of electors. If the Democratic slate gets the most votes those electors cast their vote in the EC for the Democratic nominee. You determined how the electors vote. That still gives the voters complete control of how your state votes.

You know whether those electors represented your vote because they often vote in public and we know how each one voted for both president and vice president because those records are made available.

No, and the electoral college really doesn’t check or balance the system, Trump
was elected. He is both demagogue and bully. The system has failed us. One person, one vote.

Let me summarize this patently stupid argument:

No State is a democracy either. Each State is a republic, with the current exception of California, which is no longer a State since is no longer honors either the Constitution of the United States nor it's own State constitution.

The United States is not a democracy at all. It is organized as a federated republic.

The US is a representative democracy.

Aside from all of this other malarkey you put here, President Obama and President Clinton did not recruit Russians to hack the election in their favor nor did they use antigovernment conspiring GOPer cronies to manipulate the electoral college in their favor either in violation of U.S. Constitutional law like your beloved Fuhrer and Putin puppet tRump did.

Clinton is the only one who conspired with foreign operatives.

You simply are lying about the Russian involvement because you are pissed Hillary sucked so bad she couldn't beat Trump.

But please, do tell us how the GoP manipulated the electoral college. I do want to hear this... should be entertaining.

It's all pretty simple. It's how the sausage got made. There was no principle underlying it.
The only rationale that exists is that "a deal is a deal" so we are stuck with it. No moral case
can be made that deviates from one woman-one vote.

wrong... as usual. The point of the electoral college is so that high population centers wouldn't run the country. That mob rule wouldn't be in effect.

How can America be a voice for Democracy in the world when we do not even elect our own presidents in a Democratic way?

While we would like to see free elections in every country but let's take IRAN for example. If IRAN decided to go the American way and allowed their clerics and zealots to become the delegates that actually determines the votes- Would that be a free democratic election? Isn't that what they have now for heaven's sake?

I hate to have to say it, but that is the way we do it here! That's "3rd world" people! Wake up!!

That's not democracy! That's not a free election! And we are no better than IRAN is now when it comes to the way we put leaders into office.

That's why IRAN laughs at us, because they select their leaders no different than in the way we select our leaders today!

We do elect our President democratically. Each state has a popular vote, all but two allocate electoral votes in a winner take all manner. Maine and Nebraska are the exceptions.

The founders set this up so that it wouldn't be mob rule. That is why we are a Republic. But we remain a representative democracy.

The fact that you compare us to Iran shows just how dishonest you are on the topic.

OK! Let's say you have 3 children, and you tell them you are planning for next years vacation, and they have a choice, "Do you want to go to Disneyland in Florida, or camping in the Colorado Rocky Mountains?

Two kids immediately say, "Disneyland dad"! One kid say's, "Camping dad"!

As a father, would you then say, "OK, It's decided, we are going camping"! Would that be democratic? Don't think so!

Shouldn't a majority always win? You know it, and I know it! The answer is yes!

And how would your two kids that wanted to go to Disneyland feel? Do you think after by playing and going by the rules and voted, do you think they would be disgruntled and feel like they were treated unfairly! Justifyingly so!

Well, that is how the majority of voters feel when they win the popular vote and are told they lost the election!

If they are too stupid to comprehend how our system works, then too bad.

You ask how they would feel if they played by the rules and then a different decision was made... you do get the irony yes?

The RULES are clear. Win the electoral college majority. Clear as day. Not hard to comprehend. Yet NOW, because you LOST, you want us to by DIFFERENT RULES.

It's the law. Get over it.

Lol, why should one persons vote carry more weight than another’s? Why should a person in Montana’s vote be worth 3 times a person in Texas? Why should I be penalized for living in a populated state?

It doesn't. Your vote carries equal weight to every other vote in your state.

I did learn in Civics class and was never satisfied with the explanation of why my vote counts less than others. You still have not adequately explained it either. Why are some people’s interest more important than mine? Why are we not equal? One person, one vote.

It was enacted because their Founders considered the masses too ignorant to vote in their best interest. It’s time to get rid of the EC, it was never in the voters best interest.

Then you need to go back and learn it all over again. We DO have one person, one vote. No one else gets to vote twice. YOU and those in your state, tell YOUR state electors how to vote. Myself and those in CO, tell OUR state electors how to vote. Why should CA be able to dictate to Montana what to do?
