Two parishioners and the gunman are dead after a shooting at a White Settlement church Sunday, officials say.

The shooting was reported at about 11 a.m. at the West Freeway Church of Christ in the 1900 block of South Las Vegas Trail.

During the service, a man went in and fired a weapon. Two church members, who were members of the parish's security team, returned fire and killed the shooter, who was pronounced dead at the scene, White Settlement Police Chief J.P. Bevering said.

The main difference between this church shooting and the church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas in 2017, is that thankfully there were armed citizens inside this church.
In the Sutherland Springs church shooting, the shooter was the only one inside the church who was armed. There was no one to stop the shooter until he went outside and a neighboring homeowner forced the shooter to flee when he started firing at him with an AR-15.

las Vegas was a gun modified to become in essence a machine gun. Gang bangers have used machine guns in drive bys. Some guns are pretty easy to modify to automatic. The Branch Dividend in Waco had automatic guns.

Sometimes the numbers lie. For example the united states has the most gun murder in the world. We have the most guns in the world HOWEVER if you were to remove just a handful of cities from the stats we are among the safest of countries. So the stats look like more guns equal more gun deaths but it's very few guns causing this statistical illusion. You of course being so bias and jaded against guns are unwilling or perhaps intellectually incapable of understanding that this dispels your arguement 100 percent.

It shows clearly that it isn't the gun.

What my pro 2nd amendment friends have been telling you is true.

Personally I prefer NOT to be a helpless victim in the face of an armed attacker. You may be different. Your choice. Could have been a knife or machete like in New York. What for you then? No way to defend yourself AND no gun to blame. Still same result potentially.

For some 40 plus years only one legally owned machinegun has ever been used in a murder. Might have changed in the last 10 years since I saw the stat but I haven't heard of it. There are tens of thousands of legally owned machineguns nation wide and only one used in murder. AND that one was owned by a cop who went nuts.

BTW machineguns are difficult to shoot accurately and waste large amounts of ammo. Ideal for mass missing. Deliberate, well aimed fire is much more effective.
