Reflecting Pool Disaster Keeps Growing After $14 Million Renovation

Days after the water in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool turned green from algae, the recently applied blue paint is now peeling off the bottom of the pool.

Meanwhile, the current algae bloom in the pool is the biggest amount recorded in the month of June in at least five years, according to The Washington Post.

The president personally requested "American flag blue" paint in his $14 million renovation of the pool, which didn't go through a required bidding process and was instead awarded to a company with no federal contracting experience who is overcharging the government.

Just a few weeks ago, trump said the repairs and paint will "...last for fifty to one hundred years before you'll have to do anything...."

Now, after just a matter of weeks...

....with huge slabs of blue paint peeling up from the bottom....

And honestly, it's almost worth the $14 million wasted tax dollars just to see trump making such an ass out of himself.

Leave it to Trump to hire shitty contractors who don't know what they're doing.

Weren't these Trump's personal pool maintenance guys who got the $14 million contract?

What @Cypress "forgot" to mention, per CNN:

Shown pictures and videos of the material, Eddie Wood, who owns Atlantic Industrial Coatings, the Virginia-based firm hired to renovate the pool, said the images do not provide enough information “to tell exactly what that is.”

“There’s several things that we’ve got to address when we come back for maintenance, and anything like that will be addressed, if it’s a problem,” Wood said.

Tim Auerhahn, a pool infrastructure expert and the chairman of the Aquatic Council, said it’s difficult to tell from the videos what was causing the “apparent delamination.”

“A coating system can fail for several reasons, including substrate preparation, surface contamination, application conditions, adhesion issues, product selection, mechanical damage, environmental exposure, or a combination of factors,” Auerhahn said.

Issues with algae and leaks have bedeviled various presidential administrations nearly since the pool was first opened a century ago.

In 2012, President Barack Obama’s administration spent $34 million on an 18-month renovation of the pool which was meant to address ongoing issues with algae blooms.

However, shortly after that renovation was completed, the pool again became a murky, smelly mess, filled with algae, bird waste and dead ducks.

Can you say "kickback"?

As in... the job cost four million, the contractor got paid fourteen million with half the ten million dollars difference going right back into trump's pocket.

And he doesn't even need the money.

He just cannot resist a good grift.

The contractor says that he was only charged to seal and paint, all of the other problems someone else would deal with.

Also it is highly unlikely that the contractor had anything to do with the hydrogen peroxide great idea.
Did he charge $14 million for that?

I saw a report that before the Obama era renovations the problem was not algae but bird poop.....because the pool had been completely neglected.
