The Republican Party is Dying. Old, Racist, and Cannot Grow.

Heres an interesting poll taken this month.

Bsically, not only are millennial voters open to Trump, but to the GOP in general. The #draintheswamp resonates with them.
once we get past the "Russian collusion" nonsense and the distractions of Mueller, then it's back to combatting Fake News.
So it's not easy to overcome "da resistance" "da Russians" + Mueller and Fake news -
but Trump's numbers are slowly coming up.

If Trump can learn to STFU on Twitter- or restrict it to politics -eventually the superiority of his policies will be manifest..

Watch the idjits Dems now "resist" infrastructure..they have no clues, they only froth,
but I'm confident the American people ( except Dems) will start to see the pay offs.

I don’t mind his tweets. He’s battling the deep state collusion. More power to him. His presidency is the result of deep state corruption. The last chance at righting the corruption of the elites and power brokers. He isn’t a party republican- he is, at his core, a business savvy capitalist. He knows which policies will make for the best foundation with which to strengthen our country. As Democrats scream racist, idiot, misogynist- they are flat out morons when it comes to our economy. Without which they could not enjoy the freedoms to dawn giant vaginas and humiliate the rest of us with their infantile behavior.

I'm fine with his political tweets -including villifying the Deep State.
He used to attack private citizens though, and that I'm not Ok with.

He seems to be learning that POTUS should not respond to picayune postings...in some ways he's adapting to the Swamp

I've read Avik Roy and like his work but I'd be curious to know about the conservative movement he speaks of in the early '60's. From an electoral perspective republicans had held the presidency 8 out of maybe the last 35 years. Democrats dominated Congress. Keynesians were dominate economically. There wasn't exactly a thriving conservative movement.

You had Milton friedman and a few other leading intellectuals. Not sure if Buckley had started National Review or not.

But not exactly a high point

A sad if painful reality.

What I do not know is:

a) Was Trump so Machiavellian that he knew he couldn't drain the swamp, but promised to, merely to get elected? Or,

b) was Trump so naïve that he actually thought he could succeed at it?

I suspect the answer is both.

Trump got 29% of the Hispanic vote. Guess they didn't know what they bought into .. but Trump showed 'em.

We know exactly what we bought into, dumbasrocks. Your wishful thinking is noted.

Of course, you won't respond to this because your chikenshit ass has me on ignore. I don't blame you, it's not easy when you get shot down and exposed.

NBC News/GenForward polling found that millennials are generally mistrustful and disdainful of both parties and government. Sixty percent of poll respondents said they disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job, and on the whole millennials don't think either party cares about people like them. Fifty-nine percent have a negative view of the GOP, while 42 percent have an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party

he is the swamp

look at the money laundering cases against him

BlackAsshole, and other Leftist scum WANT permanent one party Leftist rule. If that happens, may the United States break out into all out war.

No. There is no one in their right mind no matter what their political leanings that would accept that coward anywhere.

Now, you I will give all sorts of credit to for at least trying to run the racists out of the Republican Party.
Keep up the good work!

Liberal Slate questions the premise of this thread.

The Coming Democratic Majority? Not So Fast.

The right fears it. The left dreams of it. But both may be deceived in assuming demographics will change how America votes anytime soon.

The answer to why Trump's base is still clinging to him is because they have nowhere else to go. For them, this is Custer's Last Stand and they are surrounded by Indians.

Republicans painted themselves into this corner and hastened their doom with the election of Donald Trump. Trump has exposed them in ways that republicans have tried to keep hidden. He has exposed their gross disdain for women .. in the year of rising woman issues and demands. He has even exposed their love and support for a known pedophile.

He has exposed their gross racism and hate of non-white people .. all of them. Republicans were never far from a racist identity, given the make-up of their virtual all-white party, but Trump leaves no doubt about it.

Thus, by their own design, they cannot grow as a party Large majorities on non-whites hate republicans and want nothing to do with them, and much of their base is already old.

Data shows a downward demographic spiral for Republicans

Lost on the party during this, however, would seem to be that they are statistically experiencing the ultimate political “dead cat bounce.”

The term comes from stock markets and refers to a sequence of events where a stock sees a temporary and brief recovery after a severe and prolonged decline, followed by a return to that same decline. The short recovery was really just a mirage as the underlying problems still exist, returning the stock to its initial, inertial free fall.

The key to understanding this phenomenon for the Republican Party is to look at changing U.S. demographics.

Minorities increasingly comprise larger shares of the U.S. population, with Hispanics and African-Americans currently making up 17.6 percent and 13.3 percent of the population, respectively. When accounting for all minorities in the U.S., whites now make up just 61.6 percent of the population.

And that last percentage is shrinking. The U.S. Census Bureau now estimates that by 2044, no race or ethnicity in the U.S. will represent a majority of the population… and that includes whites. This sort of rapidity of a country’s population composition changing seems to be unprecedented.

Grand Old People Party
Republicans are old and getting older. That’s a huge problem for the GOP

As of the end of last year, the primetime median age of Fox News viewers was 68.
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_..._getting_older_that_s_a_huge_problem_for.html

Consider this .. the majority of white voters in 2016 elected Trump .. and Hillary Clinton still got 3 million more voters then Trump did.

Trump and republicans are only digging the holes deeper. Instead of reaching out to all Americans, they're just too damn busy digging their own graves.

I suspect the Republican Party will be replaced by the Libertarian Party .. while republicans morph into the Whigs.

he's an outsider and a businessman.
In business you can pick and choose your partners-in politics you get stuck with them, good or bad,,

I suspect he has/had good intentions - outsiders, or people like myself that hold both parties with disdain-
surely wanted to drain it.
But the swamp runs deep, and draining it exposes the underlying slime. It's a sticky wicket.

A demographic you omitted is the rapid growth of urban areas, rural America is fading, which has been the strength of the GOP

But I don't believe the party will disappear, been around long enough to read the same obituary for the Democrat Party, political parties reinvent themselves every generation of two, the same will happen to the GOP, sixty years ago the Democrat ranks were half racist and the GOP had a strong liberal faction
