Recognizing a major catastrophe effecting a huge section of America in even one of the umpteen media exposures Trump solicits and gets daily is asking to much? Showing empathy for Americans suffering is asking too much from a President?

As I said, undeniable, you can bet your ass if it was an equivalent hurricane hitting Florida or a rash of tornadoes striking Iowa, Trump would be all over it tossing out paper towels and touring with Melania in her high heels

Now I don't, nor have ever, lived in California, I have a Woody Allen/Jerry Seinfeld view of California, yet I don't believe I am wrong when I say that urban sprawl hasn't been a recent trend in California, nearly the whole State has always been from the jump based upon urban sprawl. In addition, again going back decades, transit systems were never a biggie there also

Seems a whole lot like a poor "whataboutism"

Good point.

Showing up doesn’t really accomplish much in terms of practical effect. If Newsome is lacking resources he needs to get on the phone with Trump; Trump delegates and sees that something is done to help.

That’s what the affected people need. Anything else is politics. They don’t need to look at Trump or get warm fuzzies from Biden’s empathy.

The issue the guy is referring to is the anti-housing NIMBYs in the state who fight against density and urban development on transit lines that would in theory get people out of their cars and using public transit or bikes when instead we continue to push development further out in the suburbs thus forcing people in the their cars along with longer commutes and ultimately less friendly to the environment. There is no whataboutism here. This has been a battle that has been going on for decades but the YIMBY movement has really picked up steam over the last decade. And fighting climate change is a major belief of YIMBYs.

What’s he saying is the local Dem politicians who vote against urban density development on transit bills them complain about climate control are full of sh*t.

So tell us, does West Virginia have an extensive "forest management" program in place? And what WV has to deal with is minor compared to the West Coast States facing their problems today

And you are missing the point, responding to a disaster effecting an entire section of the country by blaming them isn't what Presidents do, it would be like telling the Gulf States suffering from flooding during a hurricane don't expect recognition from your Government cause your levees weren't high enough

And again, I don't live in California, but I was always under the impression mass transit isn't, nor was never, a priority of anyone in California, left or right, wasn't all recent efforts attacked and forgotten due to heavy cynicism

I thought President's represented all Americans, that they were expected to address catastrophes when they effected Americans no matter where they occurred, at the very least show some degree of empathy.
