Some believe biological life began here on Earth.
A more recent explanation suggests biology began on Mars, somehow got ejected beyond Mars' gravitational influence, and subsequently entered Earth's prospective biosphere.
How biological life could survive meteorite status, I'm not sure.
I've never read any suggestion from a credible source that life began both on Mars, and again on Earth.
So I'll assume biological life is somewhat rare, if not unique in the cosmos.
There may be millions of other civilizations, some without Democrats, wafting through the cosmos. - dandy -
BUT !!
a) We know of only one that passes for civilization, our own.
b) If interstellar, or perhaps intergalactic space travel, or time travel is possible, why haven't any such travelers stopped off here? We're easy to find. Spectroscopic analysis of Earth from very far away would provide indications of our industrial activity.
And we've been blasting radio signals into space since 1901, over a century.
That means we've created a: "HEA!! WE'RE OVER HERE !!" sign in space that's over 200 light years in diameter.
I agree that if it took a billion years for the amoeba to evolve AFTER the big bang, it doesn't seem to make sense that an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent deity evolve BEFORE creation.
BUT !!
That's what the "experts" claim. Thus my agnosticism.
- Atheism defines a person for what they do not believe.
I'm not sure self-definition in the negative makes much sense, strutting about boasting about what one is not. THUS !!
- I'm an agnostic. We merely confess our ignorance.
We're aware there are both natural, and supernatural explanations. We retain an open mind, regardless of our suspicions.
"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), U.S. president. Letter, 10 Aug. 1787
