How heroin and fentanyl get into Philadelphia — and why a border wall likely wouldn’t stop it
The Morning Call· 20 hours ago

n his prime time address Tuesday night on shutting down much of the government over funding for a wall on the southern border of the U.S., President Trump suggested that the structure could help stop heroin from entering the country.

“Every week 300 of our citizens are killed by heroin alone, 90 percent of which floods across our southern border,” he said.

ut he didn’t mention his own Drug Enforcement Administration’s conclusion that traffickers smuggle most of the heroin through legal crossing points that are patrolled, not at unguarded stretches of the border.

So how does that heroin get into the U.S. generally, and the Philadelphia region specifically?

Here are some answers, drawn from Inquirer reporting and recent DEA reports. (Local DEA representatives could not comment for this article Wednesday, because as part of the government shutdown, they may speak to reporters only about national security issues.)

But that premise only holds true, if they are able to collect them; because as more and more wall goes up, they will have to move to areas that haven't been used before.

How many is this "few" that you find acceptable?

That’s basically the ‘its not an absolute barrier’ argument.

It’s virtually impossible to get to absolute zero on illegal border crossings. Then again, it’s not necessary to. We can absorb a large number of illegals crossing over—we do it now. But it’s creating social costs as well other costs.

I’d speculate that a 90% reduction would be an achievable goal—and well worth the cost of the wall.

Also keep in mind the deterrent effect: one of the reasons so many illegals make the trek is because they think they can just walk across the border—and many of them do exactly that. Once the wall is up, many of them won’t bother making the trek.

Plus acoustic sensors to detect tunnelling.
sure/ whatever.
The point of a wall is that it becomes the central defense point, and you support that defense as needed
with ancillary manpower and equipment.

As opposed to chasing everyone crossing down by foot.

Human Trafficking | U.S. Customs and Border Protection

With more than 42,000 frontline CBP officers and Border Patrol agents protecting nearly 7,000 miles of land border and 328 ports of entry — including official crossings by land, air, and sea — CBP is uniquely situated to deter and disrupt human trafficking. Currently, the agency is:

Do you have a point? ... or are you just blathering again?

How many times are we going to see the lame "whataboutism" of Obama or any Democrat, a fact for you, no Democrat ever recommended a big, beautiful, thirty foot high, concrete reinforced Wall" as the end all solution of illegal immigration, not to even mention Mexico paying for it

It's not about whataboutism you clueless twat; it's about exposing your moronic hypocrisy and stupidity.

Wrong, shocking, rather that a "big, beautiful, thirty foot high, reinforced comcrete Wall" paid for by the American taxpayer wasn't necessary, especially just to provide an exit ramp for a politician's erroneous rhetoric

You got nothing left, time to bring on the personal crapola and corny film clips

It's absolutely necessary and will get built snowflake. Then you can have even more to scream and cry about.

Now that is bizarre, why then do we have any laws, might as well get rid of them all and build "big, beautiful, thirty foot high, reinforced concrete walls" around our houses, and get all law breakers to pay for them

Absurdity; the last desperate refuge for liars, fools and ignorance.

LOL a hacksaw? Do you even know what a hacksaw is? Hint: It's not a power tool.

With a hacksaw you wouldn't even make a mark on hardened steel. 10 minutes? The blade wouldn't even last that long.

You might be able to cut through with a die grinder and about a dozen disks and an hour for each post.

Plasma cutter would cut through in about half an hour and make little noise. Hauling the shit to do that would require a vehicle

Remember; we are dealing with idiots who can't think for themselves. They can only parrot MSNBC talking points.
