Top Ten States In COVID Deaths Per Million

Well, we are supposed to be the UNITED States, and those are our fellow citizens, are they not? Or are you one of those who thinks that an Reichwinger IMPOTUSx2 like Trump was right in not wanting to send aid to a blue state (California) during a natural disaster, because they didn't vote for him?

Your rationale here is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.

As I typed...it sounds like he is just rubbing it into the 'red' states.

Hello McRocket,

Glad you got 2 shots. The current regimen is 3.

There is no Constitutional right to refuse shots. If a state wished to mandate that everyone in the state get the shots they would be perfectly within their Constitutional rights to do that. Even today's SCOTUS agrees. The precedent was set in the 1905 Jacobson decision. The right of the public to be safe from disease exceeds the right of the individual to refuse a mandated vaccine.

New York now requires all health care workers to get vaccinated. If you refuse you can't work. It would not surprise me if New York did impose a general mandate during the upcoming Omicron wave. Or at least follow in California's footsteps. Omicron stands the very real probability of blowing away any previously set numbers of cases. We currently have more active cases of COVID than we have ever had. Over 10 Million:

If the only people that people under 50 are thinking of, is themselves, then that is an understandable response.

The problem is the same as the reason for creating distancing in schools. The young and healthy often don't even feel any symptoms and may not even know they have a case at all. Great for them. The problem is: That doesn't prevent them from passing the disease on to others who could end up dead.

So no, that is unacceptable. Individual right of freedom from mandates and social requirements does not overrule the public right to safety. It is actually the other way around.

Delta doubled the number of cases every 2-3 weeks.

Omicron is doing it in 3 days.

It looks like we are in for the likes of something we have not seen yet.

1) Your example was for smallpox...a disease that killed children and with a death rate of 30%.
The two viruses are NIGHT AND DAY in terms of severity.
Even still.
I do not care what the SCOTUS ruled.
As far as I am concerned?
It is not constitutional to force people to take shots.

2) Young people DO NOT need protection.
Only 655 Americans 0-17 that had or were presumed have (not die of...just have) Covid-19.
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm#SexAndAge
You do NOT mass vaccinate 75 million people for a virus that has killed - at most - only 655 of them.
This vaccination of the young is NOTHING to do with protecting them.
NOTHING.

This is 100% to do with with making it safer for old farts (whom make up over 90% of those who die of Covid-19) to not get Covid-19.
That is the REAL reason.

3) if the point is to protect people?
Why are you not calling for mass flu shots for everyone each year?
Up to 50+K Americans die of it each flu season?
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/index.html

If you are for injecting 75 million children to protect 655+ children from dying of Covid-19?
Why are you not pushing all Americans to get flu shots to save up to 50,000 people every year?

1) It doesn't matter what disease. The SCOTUS has twice ruled in favor of vaccine mandates. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. The law is enforced.

2) Moot point. Children still die of COVID. One heartbroken unvaccinated mother in Texas went to wake up her 4yo little girl whom she had been treating for symptoms the day before. Couldn't wake her up. She was dead. The mother felt horrible. She wished she had gotten the vaccine. She went ahead and got it. Just too late to save her daughter. Most children don't die. Some do. We didn't need to lose the 655.

3) Whataboutism. Nothing to do with COVID.

The cost of the pandemic in financial terms in in the tens of billions of dollars. And it is going to get much worse now, because people refuse to be vaccinated. Anyone who asks 'what difference does it make to a vaccinated person' is uninformed and willfully ignorant.

Paradox V.

Hello McRocket,

I began the thread because I hoped it would stir a good discussion.

I wonder how many people realize how bad the pandemic has gotten.

There seems to be a huge outbreak in COVID fatigue, but now is no time to drop your guard.

One out of every 287 people is Mississippi is dead of COVID.

Hopefully the people in these high death states will take notice and redouble their safety efforts.

Covid19 does not kill. You are making shit up and quoting made up shit.

No court has the authority to change the Constitution. You are again denying and discarding the Constitution of the United States. See Articles I, II, and III, and the 9th and 10th amendments. Rights do not come from constitutions. That is not their purpose.

He didn't want to send ventilators to New York either, because he was trying to punish the governor for something he said. What a nasty president he was.

THANKS TO LYING MORONS LIKE YOU WHO CRASHED OPUT ECONOMY FOER NO GOOD REASON.

NOW YOU'RE TRYING TO DRUM UP MASS HYSTERIA AGAIN ,OVER THE OMICRON VARIANT, WHICH IS BASICALLY THE COMMON COLD.

NO ONE IS LISTENING TO YOU ASSHIOLES ANYMORE.

Not quite true. Democrats are still listening. There are still quite a few people living in fear.

But you are right, after a fashion. More and more people are waking up to the scam that this is.

Covid19 does not kill. The 'For the Children' argument is getting pretty old, dude.

Covid19 does not kill. Your 'For the Children' argument is no good anymore.
3) Whataboutism. Nothing to do with COVID.
It does have to do with your Paradox V. You are still being irrational. You cannot argue both sides of a paradox.

Hello ThatOwlWoman,

He didn't want to send ventilators to New York either, because he was trying to punish the governor for something he said. What a nasty president he was.

He did try to send ventilators to New York. The governor of New York rejected them. You are lying.

Hello McRocket,

1) It doesn't matter what disease. The SCOTUS has twice ruled in favor of vaccine mandates. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. The law is enforced.
Just because the SCOTUS ruled.
That does not mean they did so Constitutionally.
The SCOTUS makes it's own law LOTS of times.
Sometimes ignoring/self-interpreting the Constitution.

Some do. Most?
655 children out of 75 million.
That is 1 death out of every 114,000.
That is ridiculous.

You don't vaccinate 75,000,000 children for a disease with a death rate (for those children) of 1:114,000.

3) Whataboutism. Nothing to do with COVID.

So what?
It is a question I am putting to you.

If you are in favor of forcing 75,000,000 children to get vaccines to save - at most - a few hundred children?
Then SURELY you are for 330 million people getting flu shots to save 50,000 people?

Are you for the government forcing everyone to get flu shots, every year to try and save 50+K people?
Yes or no, please?

I don't think any parent who has lost children think they were just a statistic. Every child should be saved if we can do it. And what are we giving up to do it? People have been getting vaccinated for lots of diseases for a long time. This is nothing new just because the Trump Party made it political.

There is a very big difference between COVID and the flu. The flu is not a pandemic of a novel virus. We are trying to stop a pandemic that is overwhelming hospitals.

I am in favor of COVID vaccine mandates, and vaccine passports. Those who do not wish to comply should be excluded from crowded situations, and/or face legal consequences. It is for the good of the people. It is Constitutional.

I do have to laugh that those who were so quick to cite the Constitution, thinking it would protect them from mandates, are so willing to go against it when it suits them.

A conditional faith in the Constitution is no faith at all.

But I am trying to see what your stance is on this.

No, I am not in favor of mandating flu vaccines.

Hello McRocket,

No, I am not in favor of mandating flu vaccines.

Thank you.
Many would not answer that question.
Credit to you for doing so.

Okay...you are not in favor of forced, flu vaccines?
That could save up to 50,000 people, every year.

Yet you ARE for forced, Covid vaccines of 75,000,000 children.
That could save - at most - a few hundred children?

Understood.

Good day.

Good day.

Jumping in, I'm against mandating vaccines for any citizens.

OTOH, all citizens have a right to not be infected by an infected careless asshole just like they have a right not to be shot by a careless asshole waving a gun.

The Constitution mandates the government to protect the public welfare. Obviously there's a line between individual rights, State's rights and the rights of all citizens.

IMO, it's okay to mandate students at public schools to be vaccinated or tested and masked. Same for all those in public buildings. If a city or county's citizens support it, they can do the same for private businesses thus assisting in enforcement.

I'm completely against mandating medical procedures. It was wrong when the Republicans forced women to be "wanded" for abortions and it's wrong to force someone to inject anything in their bodies without a court order (e.g. mental adjudication).
