Sorry, man, but that's were we disagree: Hillary wasn't dedicated to serving the USA anymore than Trump. Hillary was always just smarter about it. Trump is, as history proves, a fucking moron.

IMHO, while honest politicians are prefered, if my politicians have to be crooked, I'd rather have the stupid ones elected since they are easier to catch.

I feel bad for his followers.

They have been loyal and there is something to be said for that.

But now they are faced with a tough choice of continuing to support the obvious ruse or admit they were wrong to support him.

Naturally, the correct thing to do is fess up, take your lumps, learn a lesson, and move on. Put it behind them.

The insecure will have a very difficult time doing that.

I wonder how many have the fortitude to do the right thing?

That's assuming they are average or better in education and intelligence.
Someone has to be on the backside of average for both in order to help set the average. ;)

I would say the metric has less to do with education and intelligence and more to do with moral fiber and maturity.

There's plenty of dumb people who know Trump is full of BS, and sadly many smart ones who should know better, or simply choose to look the other way.

All four are connected. Is it cultural or genetic? I firmly believe well over 99% is cultural.

That's why education and intelligence are two different things. Or, as you mentioned, morality and maturity.

Well, the thing is that without a good education it is difficult to earn a good living, although it can be done in trades, and without a good living people have a difficult time thinking straight. That makes it hard to realize maturity and hard to uphold morality, especially if individuals are preoccupied with wondering where the next meal will come from.

For those who do make a good living in trades, but lack higher education, there is a lot of peer pressure to 'buck the system, ' which led to unwitting Trump support.

Many people who are simply not well-informed tend to listen to others who are not well-informed instead of thinking for themselves.

Especially when their lives are so demanding they don't really have time to sit and watch the news. Work-eat-smoke-drink-sleep tends to fill up a day. That leads to not being well-informed.
