"Trump pushes to swap Electoral College for popular vote"

The EC reflects the make up up Congressional representation..
I don't hear any complaints about Congress's representation

there is no need for it to do so

its a straight forward decision by the people

this person or the other person

it can be more accurate than being represented to have that rep then say this person or the other person

its an example where a direct vote does just fine

it was only implemented out of fear the people might pick a trump type person.

that proved it didn't work to avoid that

direct vote

its better for the people obviosly

How does one get embarrassed by something that isn't what determines the winners?

When it comes to electing a President, we use the electoral college system, something that you Hillary supporters are still embarrassed knowing you couldn't win. The final score is what counts and the final score is determined by the Electoral College. In the most recent election, that score was 304 -227 in favor of Trump.

Called ego, he can't stand the fact that more Americans voted against him, he was the second banana, it wasn't even close to the "landslide" he promotes, not difficult, pure ego

And if it is supposedly the Democrats who can't get over the election why in hell is Trump the one regurgitating it nearly daily?

Whether he said it or not matters little to me. Whether he believes it or not matters little to me.

He may actually believe it. So what if he does? He has no power to do anything about it so it is a waste of my time thinking about it.

But if it allows you to add another notch in your “I hate Donald Trump” headboard I am happy for you.

And there it is, "whether he said it or not matters little to me, whether he believes it or not matters little to me," cause "luvin" is behind regardless

Irrelevant topic. Why? The electorial College is not going away. The only way it will is if the entire US Constitution is revoked, as in this nation no longer exists. Remember, we were given a Republic if we can keep it.

prove that

The Constitutional Convention in 1787 used the Virginia Plan as the basis for discussions, as the Virginia delegation had proposed it first. The Virginia Plan called for the Congress to elect the president.[16] Delegates from a majority of states agreed to this mode of election.[17] However, a committee formed to work out various details including the mode of election of the president, recommended instead the election be by a group of people apportioned among the states in the same numbers as their representatives in Congress (the formula for which had been resolved in lengthy debates resulting in the Connecticut Compromise and Three-Fifths Compromise), but chosen by each state "in such manner as its Legislature may direct." Committee member Gouverneur Morris explained the reasons for the change; among others, there were fears of "intrigue" if the president were chosen by a small group of men who met together regularly, as well as concerns for the independence of the president if he were elected by the Congress.[18] However, once the Electoral College had been decided on, several delegates (Mason, Butler, Morris, Wilson, and Madison) openly recognized its ability to protect the election process from cabal, corruption, intrigue, and faction. Some delegates, including James Wilson and James Madison, preferred popular election of the executive. Madison acknowledged that while a popular vote would be ideal, it would be difficult to get consensus on the proposal given the prevalence of slavery in the South:
There was one difficulty however of a serious nature attending an immediate choice by the people. The right of suffrage was much more diffusive in the Northern than the Southern States; and the latter could have no influence in the election on the score of Negroes. The substitution of electors obviated this difficulty and seemed on the whole to be liable to the fewest objections.[19]

they did it in part due to the practice of slavery

we don't have slavery anymore

this means we don't need it anymore

As usual you miss the point. Let me explain so your little fucking liberal brain can comprehend.

If Trump supported eliminating the electoral college, I would disagree with him. I would say very clearly I think he is wrong.

But he is as right to hold that opinion as any one else.

It is irrelevant because it would never happen. He can’t make it happen. So why would I get wrapped around the axle about it.

You guys have been on this mission to try to get us to stop supporting Trump. When will you learn it isn’t going to happen?

Ask archives. He's the one that said Trump would be embarrassed

The electoral college has picked the winner all the way back to G. Washington. Overall popular doesn't pick the winner just like most total yards didn't pick the winner of the Superbowl last February. Final score did. IN 2016, it was 304 - 227 for Trump. Hillary got her ass kicked.

Hillary did not. She had 3 million more votes. it is an old and archaic system we have in place that subverted the will and the vote of the people. But it is what we have used from the start. It would be difficult to remove. Trump does not have that power. But since he does not know anything about the presidency, he just wings it.

just like people thought the end of slavery could never happen

after the people see the case Mueller and team are putting together the people may DEMAND it change

the Russians used that archaic piece of our government functions and it made it easy for them to change the results of an American election.

I bet it doesn't survive

the founders themselves said it was chosen at least in part because of the complications of slavery states and non slavery states

SLAVERY IS GONE NOW

Do you believe candidates would campaign the same way they currently do for President if they knew popular vote was the determining factor?

It is true our system gives power to little states over big ones. I cannot justify that. The concept of equality and every vote being equal is subverted by the EC. One man ,one vote and votes being equal would demand the elimination of the EC. But it works for the right. That is all they care about.

that was trumpy point

he clearly seemed to claim he could have won the popular vote if he had campaigned that way

But he won by concentrating on the electoral vote instead

He has no intention of abondoning the Electoral College, he'd never win otherwise, as I said, his ego just won't let him forget he got embarrassed in the popular vote
Exactly, but I’m sure, once again, he doesn’t understand this,

"President Donald Trump on Thursday voiced support for doing away with the Electoral College for presidential elections in favor of a popular vote"

"The president’s support for a popular-vote presidential election came as an aside during a freewheeling Thursday morning interview with “Fox & Friends,” the Fox News morning show he is known to watch and from which he receives almost unflinchingly positive coverage.'

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/04/26/trump-electoral-college-popular-vote-555148

And you know it is true if it is said on "Fox and Friends"

Certainly puts all those conservatives in bind, all last year they endorsed and defended the Electoral College and now they get the rug pulled out from beneath them.

But don't worry there conservatives, you can just about bank that it is a lie, shocking, another Trump lie, but Trump has zero interest in the Electoral College, its just that his ego won't let him ever get over getting swamped in the popular vote, and the Trumpkins echo the Democrats can't get over the election

If president's were decided by the popular vote than I'm thinking Republicans may never win another presidential election or few and far between.
