"Trump pushes to swap Electoral College for popular vote"

The Amendment Process

There are essentially two ways spelled out in the Constitution for how to propose an amendment. One has never been used.

The first method is for a bill to pass both houses of the legislature, by a two-thirds majority in each. Once the bill has passed both houses, it goes on to the states. This is the route taken by all current amendments. Because of some long outstanding amendments, such as the 27th, Congress will normally put a time limit (typically seven years) for the bill to be approved as an amendment (for example, see the 21st and 22nd).

The second method prescribed is for a Constitutional Convention to be called by two-thirds of the legislatures of the States, and for that Convention to propose one or more amendments. These amendments are then sent to the states to be approved by three-fourths of the legislatures or conventions. This route has never been taken, and there is discussion in political science circles about just how such a convention would be convened, and what kind of changes it would bring about.

Regardless of which of the two proposal routes is taken, the amendment must be ratified, or approved, by three-fourths of states.

Do you have any idea how the Constitution is changed? If you did, you would not say "prove that".

once again an idiot con can NOT explain the bullshit that dribbles out of their mouth

BACK YOUR CLAIM WITH A CITATION OF FACTS IDIOT

Irrelevant topic. Why? The electorial College is not going away. The only way it will is if the entire US Constitution is revoked, as in this nation no longer exists. Remember, we were given a Republic if we can keep it.

The Constitutional Convention in 1787 used the Virginia Plan as the basis for discussions, as the Virginia delegation had proposed it first. The Virginia Plan called for the Congress to elect the president.[16] Delegates from a majority of states agreed to this mode of election.[17] However, a committee formed to work out various details including the mode of election of the president, recommended instead the election be by a group of people apportioned among the states in the same numbers as their representatives in Congress (the formula for which had been resolved in lengthy debates resulting in the Connecticut Compromise and Three-Fifths Compromise), but chosen by each state "in such manner as its Legislature may direct." Committee member Gouverneur Morris explained the reasons for the change; among others, there were fears of "intrigue" if the president were chosen by a small group of men who met together regularly, as well as concerns for the independence of the president if he were elected by the Congress.[18] However, once the Electoral College had been decided on, several delegates (Mason, Butler, Morris, Wilson, and Madison) openly recognized its ability to protect the election process from cabal, corruption, intrigue, and faction. Some delegates, including James Wilson and James Madison, preferred popular election of the executive. Madison acknowledged that while a popular vote would be ideal, it would be difficult to get consensus on the proposal given the prevalence of slavery in the South:
There was one difficulty however of a serious nature attending an immediate choice by the people. The right of suffrage was much more diffusive in the Northern than the Southern States; and the latter could have no influence in the election on the score of Negroes. The substitution of electors obviated this difficulty and seemed on the whole to be liable to the fewest objections.[19]

they did it in part due to the practice of slavery

we don't have slavery anymore

this means we don't need it anymore

once the Mueller report hits the public the people will likely be screaming to change this unneeded electoral college.

SLAVERY was ENDED

the people overwhelming agreed it should be ended to save the Union.

once the people see what the republicans party did with the help of the Russians to game play the peoples vote with electronic tricks they will be really ready to kill this little unneeded little tick in out democracy

and pilot runs away

I did not run away. There is nothing stated that is not true. The only way to delete/repeal the Electoral College would be to amend the Constitution. There is no way 3/4 of the States would vote for that. Therefore, the only way is for the US of A to be destroyed. I don't see that happening anytime soon. Except for WWIII in 2020.

you lied

No, everything I said in my post is the truth. Deal with it.

"The electorial College is not going away. The only way it will is if the entire US Constitution is revoked, as in this nation no longer exists"

that is your words in post 27 asshole

you lied

I did not insult you. I wanted you to do your homework.

Without changing the Constitution by amending it there is no legal way to end the Electoral College. If there is, even a far-fetched one, please tell me. I would like to know.

"...people thought the same of slavery too..."

Guess what? That was changed by amending the Constitution. Look it up.

How is that a lie when it is the truth.

I would like to know your reasoning on this subject. I opine the present system for electing our President/Vice President will never change so long as the United States of America exists. All is needed to block a repeal of the Electoral College are 13 states to vote against it. That seems highly likely.

Even your state of California wouldn't support it. CA having 20% of the required 270 EV it takes to win gets them a lot of attention politically.

What we really need is to get rid of winner-take-all states like California and split up the votes by district. If that happens, there'd not be a liberal president for 100 years.

this is a fucking lie you idiot

this is why you right wing fucks fail so often

YOU CANT ADMITT WHEN YOU ARE WRONG

its an INSANE tactic to lie when you have been proven to be lying
