Trump wants to drop illegal aliens from US census count

It isn't "unconstitutional."

Yet, service members (in some cases) and American citizens overseas are not counted.
People overseas are NOT domiciled in a state.
POW's held in the US were counted but not enumerated. That is, they weren't counted towards congressional seats.
When were POWs being held in the US and counted in the decennial census?
So, there's plenty of precedent to either not count illegals at all, or count them but not use their numbers for apportionment of congressional seats.
No. There isn't. The Constitution says apportionment shall be to the states according to their respective numbers, "which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons." Either they are not persons are they are not free. Those are the only categories you could apply to them.
Why are you so uneducated on the Constitution? Wait, that's obvious.
It is you that is uneducated. Tell us where the Constitution says only the persons that are citizens should count toward apportionment. In fact the Constitution says the opposite of that since it requires the counting of persons that are not citizens by counting slaves as 3/5 of a person.

Doesn't matter. If they are not in jail or prison, they are considered "free" and therefor to be counted in the census under the Constitution. Remember that document? You MAGATs scream bloody murder when a (D) POTUS proposes to allegedly violates it, yet turn a blind eye when your #CorruptCaligula actually DOES.

But don't worry, RB. The vast majority of undocumented persons do not return the census forms; they live in the shadows and don't want to be fingered by Trump's ICE goons. So they don't register to vote, they don't apply for social security cards, they don't get "welfare" or food stamps

Hopefully ICE searches them out and deports them. ALL of them.

They are NOT slaves so they are "free persons." Your only argument can be either they are slaves or they are not people. Both of those arguments are delusional.

Who the hell said anything about illegals being slaves?
My argument is about them being in this country illegally,
which is a federal crime. Arrest and deport. ALL of them!

Who the hell said anything about illegals being slaves?
You did when you claimed they weren't free. The only way they can NOT be a free person under the Constitution is if they are slaves.
My argument is about them being in this country illegally,
which is a federal crime. Arrest and deport. ALL of them!
The Constitution says all "free persons" are to be counted. Not counting all free persons is unconstitutional.

I doubt if very many of them return the census forms.

What's the point of dropping them? They are here, they contribute to local economies and also (if they send their kids to school) contribute to the school districts' burden to provide education. Ditto for other local entities that serve the public, legal or not -- hospitals and clinics that get federal funds, police and fire and EMT services, parks, roads/bridges used by all. It sounds like the Toadstool wants to put the burden of outting "illegals" on local communities rather than where it belongs -- on his ICE goons.
I've gone through this before. For every dollar illegals contribute to the economy they cost Americans something like $5 to $10. They are not a net positive for America.

My position is they should be counted, and like POW's, since they are not citizens they should not be counted for apportionment of congressional seats as they are not represented by congress being foreign nationals. That's how the "Indians thing worked." That's how POW's didn't count for that. That seems a fair interpretation of intent of the law. Everybody gets counted but only those that are citizens count for apportionment of congressional seats.

The Democrats don't want that for obvious reasons, just as they didn't when they ran slave holding states. They needed the numbers to get more seats in Congress. If illegals didn't count for apportionment, then California alone loses something like 5 seats. That would be a disaster for Democrats, and Democrats alone.

Even the ones that who work in the hospitality industry, that your #FatFascistFelon excused from deportation? BTW, can you tell us where the majority of Trump's properties' income derives from?
All of them. As for Trump's properties. I doubt that income from them is coming from illegal aliens paying to stay at one or do whatever it is you do at one. I doubt many have that kind of cash lying about.

You don't get to claim that is the intent of the US Constitution. One only needs to read the actual words to see the intent. They didn't intend to not count non-citizens. The count is everyone but two exceptions, Indians not taxed and the 3/5th rule for slaves.

California loses 5 seats? Based on what math? I just ran the numbers using 2025 populations minus the estimated 2.3 million undocumented in CA and they only lose 2 seats.

Keep in mind the apportionment would be based on 2020 census if redone today and subtracting the estimated undocumented, only 3 states would lose 1 seat, California, Florida and Texas. Idaho, Ohio and Michigan would each gain a seat.

The exceptions I claimed actually occurred. So you are wrong based on historical usage.

The apportionment in 2030 with the lose of illegals could mean up to 5 seats taken from California. New York and Illinois would also lose seats with illegals gone.
