Media coverage of the Trump administration’s policy of arresting people who illegally cross the border has been almost uniformly negative. Some has been downright hysterical. A new Economist/YouGov poll shows, however, that the vast majority of Americans polled support either President Trump’s executive order, the initial enforcement of the law that resulted in family separation, or something even stricter.

I think the average American Worker supports a 'No Immigrants' policy. Very, very few support separating young children from their mothers. What's the purpose of that? Deport the Mother, keep the 5 year old Child here? That defies logic. Other than 'ILoveAmerica' (and possibly 'Legina') who thinks THAT is a brilliant Policy???

That's legitimate. Why would you separate the children from the parents? That's where the uproar is.
Whether you're FOR immigration, or AGAINST immigration, it makes NO SENSE to separate the children from the parents.

So you deport the parent, ... then what do you do with the 5 year old?

Will you, ILA and Legina pay to feed and house this kid for the next 13 years? Then deport her back to 'wherever' when she turns 18. Is THAT the Plan?

Maybe ILA and Legina support separating the child, then gouging an eye out or cutting off a hand of the baby, then returning the child as the mother is deported?
Sounds a little 'Kim Jong-Un', but wouldn't rule this out for either ILA and/or Legina. :(

Of course they are. Just as it’s the lower classes who fear they will have to compete with them for jobs. I personally don’t care if it’s an illegal immigrant or a low end of the social order redneck who serves me at McD’s as long as they get the order right and McD’s has so dumbed down even an illegal immigrant or a working class Republican can’t fuck it up.

So since y’all aren’t a threat to me and I don’t live in shit stained fear of people who are different than I. Why should I give a rats ass about your problem?

BTW Obama’s immigration Policies were broadly popular too. E-verify has proven very effective at preventing immigration and Obama’s deported more illegal immigrants than any US President, including Trump.

E-Verify was started in 1996 as a pilot program but wasn’t fully implemented until 2009. Since the border crossing apprehension dropped from around 160,000 to 16,000 per year.

Also since Trump took office deportation of illegals has declined from a peak under Obama of 400,000 per year to around 200,000 per year under Trump.

So what’s actually happening is quite different than from the ugly rhetoric used by populist like Trump who traditionally demonizes minorities, immigrants, foreigners and the poor to attract the mouth breather vote and as you can see it’s very effective politics.

However in terms of public policy it doesn’t get real world shit done as you can see from Trumps developing record.

They are not. Gallup recently had a poll showing that 57% are against the wall and those answering that immigration is good for America is at an all time high. Meanwhile support for Trump's impeachment is higher than his approval rating.

The problem is no good solution exists.

Flores dictates that the government can’t hold kids longer than 20 days and it takes a lot longer for their parents to be processed. So unless they do catch and release kids are going to be separated from their parents.

Basically, the choice is separating kids or having what amounts to open borders. It’s worth pointing out that neither side of the argument is illegitimate.

And it gets worse. Once word gets out that immigrants can skirt our laws simply by showing up at the border with their kid [or ANY kid] it becomes a recipe for disaster. What irks me about the way the media portrays the issue is they totally ignore the perils these kids face on their trek through Mexico. One can only imagine the horrors some of them face. And by being lax with our own laws the government is enticing them to make the trip.

That’s as bad or worse than separating families.

But if we’d build the damn wall, much of this problem would be alleviated.

The problem is it isn’t that big a problem. Illegal immigration is a fraction of what it was in 2000.

What it really is, is an issue thatba cynical politician is using to manipulate the fears and resentments of ignorant rubes. Trump should be called “The Rube Master.”.
