I have a hard time believing you actually read a 120 page dissertation.
Do you not have better things to do?
I only had to skim a few pages to realize Deplorables are lying their flabby asses off. There is nothing atrocious or illiterate about her writing. It is not Shakespeare, but a technical paper is not supposed to be a work of literature. It reads like thousands of other technical papers I have perused.
Well, I did. Just going through the first few pages. I'll leave off the poor grammatical choices she's made in many sentences and just present some of the really bad 'gems' of poor grammar she uses.

In addressing the question of student retention, a general question with four specific parts will be considered:
What steps can Delaware Tech take to improve student retention?
a. What can be done to address academic needs?
b. What can be done to address psychological needs?
c. What can be done to address social needs?
d. What can be done to address physical needs?
A question about a question? That's how the sentence reads. Her table that follows is also poorly constructed. It should be a series of five questions say, something like this:
What can be done at Delaware Tech to improve or address student needs in:
1. Retention?
2. Academic preparedness?
3. Psychological stability?
4. Social adjustment?
5. Disabled access? (This is apparently what she actually means here from reading further in the paper)
Page 2
At least five seats will be filled with middle-aged men and women...
Both men and women occupy the same seats? It should read men or women...
If you read the whole of page 2, it is a huge run-on paragraph with some really bad math involved.
or this:
Some seats will hold older women whose children have just entered college – now these women are taking the opportunity to earn
college degrees themselves.
This is particularly bad for an academic paper. It draws two conclusions without supporting evidence:
1. That these women's children have entered college. How does she know that?
2. That these women are taking the opportunity (as a result of 1) to get a college degree as well. Again how does she determine this? Couldn't there be a variety of other reasons they are taking a class?
For over a page she lists a who's who in community college classes without a single reference to where she got this information. That's totally unacceptable in an academic paper. If she did a properly constructed survey to get it, then show us. If she got it from references or previous studies, show us. She doesn't. Unacceptable.
The inclusion of the Delaware Tech mission statement in full is a waste of space in the paper (pgs 2 and 3)
She concludes that inclusion with:
Responding to the current social and economic morés of the new millennium, Delaware Tech’s mission has adapted to meet the needs and goals of today’s students.
Other than the spelling error (mores is unaccented), the problem here is she doesn't expand on how Delaware Tech has done this adaptation. She just tosses in one sentence, as a stand-alone paragraph, a mistake in grammar itself, and moves on. Again, not acceptable in an academic paper.
I could easily spend the rest of the day going line-by-line through this travesty of a paper, but I think I've made my point. It is riddled with stuff that isn't up to snuff for PhD work.
