Letter to the editor: Gov. Abbott has failed Texans in many ways

Greg Abbott has failed the citizens of Texas in so many ways that I thought I couldn’t be surprised anymore. But he outdid himself with today’s announcement that he was removing all COVID restrictions, including the mask mandate. Even this Texan, who has come to expect very little leadership from the Governor, was beyond shocked.

Does Abbott not know or care that Houston has all three of the more contagious variants of the virus? Does he not know or care that, when he reopened the state way too early last May, Texas had a huge spike in cases and deaths?

No, Greg Abbott cares about one thing and that is to please his political cronies.

I’m begging the good people of Wichita Falls to continue wearing masks in all public places, despite this incredibly poor judgement from our Governor. I certainly plan to and will not shop at any business that does not require masks.

Please remember, when you vote in 2022, that Greg Abbott cares nothing about you or your health and safety.
