Reread what you posted.ok so you believe poverty is the cause for the decline of education in America not low teacher pay even though the avgerge teacher makes more money than the average worker in America
No need as what you posted above isnt related to what we were discussing. We were discussing a decline in education. You said the decline was due to low teacher pay and lack of funding for education. What I posted suggests that the decline in education is not too little money but too little personal responsibility. So explain how poverty had brought about the decline in education we dont agree exists.Reread what you posted.
" Not only poverty, but crime and terrorism, are seen as conditions of oppression rather than individual choices"
Okay.No need as what you posted above isnt related to what we were discussing. We were discussing a decline in education.
They are ones of the reasons. You said the decline was due to low teacher pay and lack of funding for education. What I posted suggests that the decline in education is not too little money but too little personal responsibility.
So explain how poverty had brought about the decline in education we dont agree exists.

So a playground in disrepair makes it impossible for a student to learn?
Didn't say that.So a playground in disrepair makes it impossible for a student to learn?
Ok then explain the picture. What relevance does it have to the discussion.Didn't say that.
Poverty and poor neighborhoods.Ok then explain the picture. What relevance does it have to the discussion.
ok and giving more money to teachers would fix poverty and poor neighborhoods how exactly?Poverty and poor neighborhoods.
It clearly helped other neighborhoods.ok and giving more money to teachers would fix poverty and poor neighborhoods how exactly?
where? Ive shown you that other countries spend less than we do and those places are safer by your own admission. It clearly helped other neighborhoods.
Affluent neighborhoods?where? Ive shown you that other countries spend less than we do and those places are safer by your own admission.
Sohere those "affluent" neighborhoods were previously impoverished neighborhoods before the teachers goy paid more? Id love to see the actual evidence. Thats wired though considering Japan spends less than us on education but its safer there.Affluent neighborhoods?
Do you think those schools need to be improved? Do you think our poor education needs to be addressed?Sohere those "affluent" neighborhoods were previously impoverished neighborhoods before the teachers goy paid more? First lets establish that just throwing money at it wont fix it and there isnt any evidence that money alone will fix it.Do you think those schools need to be improved? Do you think our poor education needs to be addressed?
I don't advocate "throwing money" at it. There needs to be a better management or plan.First lets establish that just throwing money at it wont fix it and there isnt any evidence that money alone will fix it.
It has been proven that paying workers more improves efficiency. As to "improved" we'd need to establish what "improved' means. I dont believe paying teachers more is the kind of improvement education needs.
I agree on better management and planning but that doesnt include paying teachers more.I don't advocate "throwing money" at it. There needs to be a better management or plan.
It has been proven that paying workers more improves efficiency.
I agree on better management and planning but that doesnt include paying teachers more.
First you'd have to provide evidence for the claim. Second how would you like to measure "efficient" in regards to education. I remember a times when it was suggested teaching job should be connected to the test scores of their students. Thats went over like a lead balloon so how would be know a more highly paid teacher is more efficient? If a mason is suppose to build a wall but doesnt should he be retained at his job or paid more?
I dont see a link to any evidence. Maybe Im missing itView attachment 92927

Yes, economic research shows that higher wages often increase worker productivity. This concept is known as the efficiency wage theory, which suggests that better pay motivates employees to work harder, stay longer with the company, and perform at a higher level. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Why Higher Wages Boost Productivity
- More Motivation: Employees feel valued and work harder to keep their well-paying jobs.
- Less Turnover: Workers are less likely to quit, meaning companies keep experienced staff and spend less time hiring.
- Fewer Absences: Better-paid workers experience less stress and financial worry, leading to fewer sick days and missed shifts.
- Better Talent: Higher pay attracts skilled and motivated applicants to open positions. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
You said homogeneity.I dont see a link to any evidence. Maybe Im missing it
We already spend more money than Japan on education yet you state Japan is safer. If thats true then something other than money must be the reason Japan is safer than the US. Whats the difference?
