“United States-Mexico Trade Agreement.”

This what has to be done instead of stupid "international executive agreements" like the Iran deal.

Then Congress will approve -even a Democratic House would dare not approve the new agreement

Don’t underestimate the ‘But Trump’ faction.

This Mexico thing is just a Trump deflection about the Mccain funeral. Trump has a stash of crazy things to trot out when he gets caught doing the things he does. There is no agreement. Of course, he floundered when he was talking about it too.

Like most of what he says, he's talking out of his ass.

NAFTA is still in effect. All Mexico agreed to was to engage in negotiations, not to engage in an agreement. They could negotiate and the whole thing falls apart the next day.

You couldn’t have it any more backwards if you tired.

The left throws up one distraction after another.

Which would require both Canada and Mexico to abandon NAFTA, which they won't do.
ridiculous again!! THINK> why would Mexico go thru months and months of negotiations on this bilateral if it wasn't going to approve it? Trump JUST TALKED to the Mexican POTUS on the phone who praised this deal!!

What they were negotiating was an agreement to negotiate.

And even then, it's unclear that Mexico agreed to that, or that Trump understands that.

You think the US and Mexico agreed to a new trade deal entirely, and that's simply not what happened.

NAFTA is still in effect.

This isn't a trade deal...it's an agreement between Mexico and the US to negotiate a trade deal with Canada. But all would require all three nations to agree to abandon NAFTA, and there's no incentive for Canada or Mexico (really) to do so.

Like most of what Trump says, it's thin on facts and misrepresenting what transpired.
NO.
It is a "stand alone deal". that is what "bilateral" means. It is NOT dependent on a trilateral deal.

Now what Congress wants is another matter - they may hold out for a trilateral, or not.
I don't know the politics yet. But you are CLEARLY misinformed on the negotiation process.

You are not thinking again. NAFTA is dead without the US. Canada and Mexico get this -Mexico just negotiated an alternative.. Now Canada gets in or not. the economic pressure is now on them to do so

Dear Idiot,

What Trump says Mexico agreed to isn't a trade deal. It's an agreement to negotiate a new trade deal.

In order to do a bilateral trade deal, all three countries have to agree to abandon NAFTA.

What Trump said Mexico agreed to wasn't a trade deal. It was an agreement to negotiate a new trade deal with Canada.

You guys just make shit up.

You're the confused one, because what Trump said Mexico agreed to wasn't a trade deal, but an agreement to have negotiations for a new deal.

It's not the politics you don't know, it's the basic facts of what has transpired that you're getting wrong.

That's because, like Trump, you just say things because they sound good.

NAFTA is in effect until Congress supplants it, or voids it.

this is a deal in itself subject to signing ( which Mexico and Trump both will do -the phone call was proof).
It is not some lead in dependent on something else. for ex. Mexico and the US could simply sign this with or without Canada.
In practical terms Canada will come in, either bi or tri-lateral. It cannot stand out in the cold by itself

You are not thinking again. NAFTA is dead without the US.

Right, but to leave NAFTA, all three countries have to agree.

And you need something to replace NAFTA.

This "deal" with Mexico was a "deal" to negotiate. It wasn't a trade deal, you fucking moron.

Delete your account; kill yourself.

Right. Which means Trump didn't negotiate a new trade deal with Mexico.

All he "negotiated" was to get Mexico to the table to negotiate an actual trade deal. Not the terms of a trade deal, but just getting Mexico to the table.

And even then, it's not entirely clear that is what transpired on the call.
