US demands that China takes its garbage.

Surely there are lots of shitholes willing to take the garbage if needed? If anyhing they would then be able to resell whatever they can recycle or something out of the trash.
Show just how uninformed you have become......

You need to come out from under that rock more often........

I was reading that the vast majority of the plastic in the oceans came from Asian plastic recycling, that they have been extraordinarily negligent, that it has virtually nothing to do with Americans using plastic straws and not properly disposing of them....does anyone know if this is true?

I would imagine a majority of it came from Asia, there is a lot more ppl there=more trash..

We send much of ours over there & don't care after that.....

Now that ccp is refusing our stuff it is going to other countries, some are burning it, others-> :dunno: we know they aint recycling it..........

From what I can see 30+ of American recycling vast amounts of energy put into recycling to "Save the Planet", has been a complete failure....that it has been more of a feel good program than something that actually accomplishes anything. A big part of that is how much of so called recyclables have ended up in the dump anyways. A part of that is that for decades a lot of the stuff we sent to Asia ended up in a landfill over there.

I have tried several times over the years to start a conversation on the subject, but I never get anywhere...almost no one has been interested...its like everyone has been brainwashed "Recycling Good, Shut Up".

Well most prob don't fine it very interesting..

Grajonca's post on it have not gone far either, although he has presented facts, supported them even from liberal sources..

It is sadly pretty much a sham..

Ppl don't want to think their gold under the sink is going to a dump in Asia, & even after they sorted, washed & crushed it..

Sadly I think you are correct in many cases.. I think for my trash/recycle company it is prob cheaper for them if we just put everything in the trash can, since it is most likely ending up there anyway..

I have gone to their site- as an example: if you have a lawn bag of alum cans they will not open it, even if they know/believe what is it....... It goes directly to garbage..

Spending all this time and energy over decades on a massively hyped project but not accomplishing what we were intending to do has to be talked about in a successful society, reforms must come....but we cant/wont do it.

Where's Comrade maggot to speak up for garbage dumping ?

Haw, haw....................haw.

I can't begin to imagine how much time & money has been wasted on this fiasco...

say 40 years, one average recycler spent X hours counting, separating, storing, cleaning & hauling etc.. & to add insult to injury in states requiring a deposit we paid an addition tax of X for that time period which we will never recoup our deposits~muchless monies required(hauling, storing, cleaning etc) to get that money back.

I heard Jordan Peterson once talk about how the West has lost its capacity for reform, regeneration, and renewal ( He said that he has no idea why it has happened, but that it is certainly a critical fault)....I think the recycling thing is a good window into that..... we have been talking about this big for half a century, we have been doing it big for four decades, and it does not work....but there is almost no awareness of this reality....and there is even less interest in exploring reform...we are content to plod along in failure.
