US military will begin automatically registering Americans for the draft in December

Yes do some type of service to the country.
And possibly learn basic trade skills. You are reasonably smart but have a physical issue? You get a desk or low physical requirement job doing something technical. Dumb as a rock? Concrete needs buggy (wheelbarrow) drivers... Something in between? Carpenters, bricklayers, etc. Build your work camp and then onto whatever the project is.

I do if the standards are lowered to allow it. Most women, like close to 90% likely couldn't serve on a USMC 60mm mortar crew where the typical combat loadout per man is about 130 lbs. gear. That's a tough load for even many men.

On the other hand, if women are given only support and administrative roles, they will become resented by men who could have taken those roles instead. I saw that myself during my service.

I doubt more than 50%-60% of men could do a mortar crew loadout.

I agree that the standards must be kept the same.

It's interesting that just putting women on navy ships at sea has been an ongoing issue. Women, on the whole, don't do well in that environment and there is a lot of complaints from them about serving at sea. It also creates friction with the crew, but political correctness and woke ideology seem to be taking precedence over sound judgement.

Back in the late 80's and into the 90's the Navy shipyard in San Diego (this command was called Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity or SIMA) had a running joke that SIMA stood for "Sailors In Maternity Attire." Major resentment by male sailors over women serving. I've seen it since quite a lot too. All of my biggest headaches were women serving in units I was in.

Don't get me wrong here. There were some women, usually a minority, that were great to have in the unit. But then there were others that were just train wrecks start to finish.
