If not them then who? You on the right are always using the idea that to take from the wealthy to help the poor is theft. Yet you would take from the poor what little they have to give to the wealthy. And you call that "fair", or allowing the wealthy to keep what they have "earned". But how did they "earn" it? Primarily by not paying the ones who actually created the wealth a living wage, something you call "socialist". And then to further exemplify your own ignorance of reality, you compare the "socialist" of today with the likes of murderers, and dictators, such as Stalin, Mao, and Poi Pot, who have more in common with the right wing, and Trump, then a socialist. As a matter of history, Adam Smith, Thomas Jefferson, and even Jesus Christ, supported what you abhor, and opposed what you admire.
Yes, I believe using the government to confiscate another person's property is theft. Would you walk into your neighbor's house and take $100 out of their wallet and then go give to a poor person? Would that make you admirable? Of course not. Using the imprimatur of government to force upon others your conscience is not compassion. It is tyranny. Hiding behind your said compassion is how you assuage your tyrannical views. Also, this notion of a "living wage" is a joke. It implies that there is a wage that if people fall below it they will die. That is ludicrous. As for your exhortations of Thomas Jefferson, Jesus Christ and Adam Smith I don't see anything in their words that support the notion of using the government to confiscate property from others to achieve those aims. You are of the belief that THE ONLY way to help the poor is to enlist the government and FORCE others to do it. I believe differently. I believe that we are ALL bound to help the poor, but that it should be a voluntary effort. That is the essence of freedom. In your world if someone doesn't want to help the poor, you believe they should be forced. While I believe they would be wrong in that decision, I have no right to force my conscience on them. Why do you? Do you think you are that morally superior that you can decide of others?
“This disposition to admire, and almost to worship, the rich and the powerful, and to despise, or, at least, to neglect persons of poor and mean condition, though necessary both to establish and to maintain the distinction of ranks and the order of society, is, at the same time, the great and most universal cause of the corruption of our moral sentiments.”
― Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments
2Corinthians 8: 13-15
“For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality: As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.”
Again you lie, and distort, to suit your fancy. How much do you think should be your responsibility to pay for the roads you drive on, the electricity you enjoy, the fire department that protects your property, or the police? How much is that worth to you?
Ahhhhh the old roads, fire department and police canard. If all the federal government did was confine its efforts to roads you probably wouldn't get much complaint. But, they have their hands in quite a bit more don't they? We aren't talking about roads. We are talking about people. Please do try again and stop trying to conflate one with the other. You embarrass yourself presenting these logical fallacies
People like you are to be pitied. You prostrate yourself before the rich and famous, and then want others to believe you have their interest's at heart. You condemn ones compassion for tohers, yet are willing to sell yourself, and your children, into slavery for the sake of those you admire the most.
Supporting freedom is not prostrating myself before the rich. I never claimed that they have my best interests at heart. I believe that I am the only person who has my and my families best interests at heart. It is you who puts your faith in big government to look out for your interests. You see the "rich" as nothing more than a piggy bank to fund your conscience.
Again with the ignorance. There is such a thing as "shared responsibility", and then there is the "social contract". In your blind state of consciousness you fail to see that it is the ones you admire the most that are seeking to have others pay so that they can continue to live in their opulent lifestyle. Because to your own slavish mentality others must rely on government assistance while the ones you kneel before raise their rents, decrease their wages, generally increase the cost of living, etc. And for what? Higher profits that only they can share in.
Where is this social contract? When did I sign it? Where is it codified into law? Who decides how the contract is changed? Do we vote on this social contract? What does it include? The rest of this diatribe is a rehash of a previous paragraph. No need for me to address it again.
Speaking of tax incentives, and other benefits given to the wealthy, to entice them to build a business in a particular community........
I have and always will oppose special tax incentives for businesses to go to a particular community. It is nothing more than crony capitalism and I abhor crony capitalism. Try another straw man
Total bull shit since you support those who willingly sent others off to die for their profits while not willing to go themselves. More then likely you were too cowardly to go yourself.
Straw man. This is not an argument
More lies, and bull shit. You have no shame, no integrity, and no honor. Like all of your kind you are a coward, and a liar, and I would not doubt you are a thief like your gawd, and master.
