Wanna prolong COVID? Vote Trump

Because many conservatives took their cue from Trump, claimed this was all a Democratic hoax, that it was no worse than the common cold, that face masks were for geeks.

Even seven months later many conservatives are reticent to admit how wrong they were.

Wrapping up, we are lagging way behind most of the developed world in managing this pandemic because Republicans put Trump's ego ahead of the National welfare.

You never fail to dial back on the bullshit, it's just a never ending stream of ordure.

It's one of the saddest things in the world, and not something I would have remotely predicted 6 months ago if I had known we'd be in a pandemic.

I really assumed we'd all be in it together & all of that. Honestly, if Trump pushed masks from day 1 - there would be no controversy. There would be no debate. There would be no people in Wal-Mart wearing Nazi masks.

They say we'd criticize Trump no matter what. But he had a presser last week where he FINALLY advocated for masks, and was onboard for more testing, and preparing people for worse days ahead. And he was absolutely celebrated for that. It showed how starved people are for leadership on this.

But then a week later, that's all out the window - he's back to just pushing re-opening faster, with no other recommendations or agreement w/ his task force or the healthcare community.

It's enough that Crypiss is full of shit! Fauci was against facemasks or have you forgotten?

Trump spent a lifetime dedicated to his self interest and his self promotion. There ever been the slightest indication Trump has worked for the welfare of his community or in the public interest.

Why would anyone have expected otherwise?

At least Obama worked as a community organizer, Jimmy Carter served in the U.S. Navy and created habitat for humanity, and even George Dumbya Bush seems to genuinely be committed to addressing HIV in Africa.

Donald Trump is literally the first amoral sociopath in modern American history

Precisely right.

All the lefties have been lauding how well Europe has done and we should have followed their lead are now enduring a second wave and going back into lock down. Trump may have screwed up in the initial stages but this thing is extremely hard to kill. Who knows if a serum will be effective.

That's pathetic.

When did we shut down for the swine flu? When was it nearly as contagious as COVID?

What an unreal comparison.

How do we know how contagious it was when testing was aborted under Obama?

I think it would help if we/they came to the realization that perhaps testing too much ‘is a thing’. Maybe at least consider it, since the death rate has dropped and hospitals are only being stressed in *some spots* in a large nation of 50 different states and over 300 million people.

Maybe the rationale for dropping tests under Obama was that case numbers aren’t really such great data [recall that 2009 wasn’t an election year] in terms of setting policy—though it may have ‘other uses’.

They tend to get reported as ‘cases’ when that implies the need for medical intervention; in reality, a positive test is only that—a positive test. They could be picking up the wrong COVID virus, for all anyone knows. The same positive person can get tested more than once—how can we know if the person’s successive positives aren’t getting added to the ‘case count’ and inflating the numbers?

Massive testing leads to spurious data. I think it’s safe to say that now. Not only is 20 million tests a day a tad unrealistic—it would lead to a data quagmire.

We need a moon shot on testing. The economy is losing trillions.

Can anyone explain why we would NOT be able to test up to 20 million a day with real national leadership?

It's very doable. It's not expensive.

If you really have to ask such a fucking stupid question then you're not worth engaging. Have you heard of logistics, it's impossible to test anything close to that number ffs and it would be counter productive anyway. There is absolutely no point testing the asymptomatic, how hard is that to understand?

It IS a Democrat hoax...

FLU, not common cold... but yes, it is no worse than the common flu.

Face masks are for hypochondriac dorks...

... about what?

What "pandemic"?

0.2% of the world becoming infected is not a pandemic.
0.008% of the world dying from a virus is not a pandemic.

SOURCE: WHO data (I used 7.8 billion people as a world population estimate)

That's horrible leadership.

We can send a man to the moon when we want to. We can send someone to MARS.

We can't coordinate a national all-in strategy on testing?

I thought Trump was Mr. "make things happen." He is the absentee President on this.

So please tell me, what part did China play in this?

You don't understand testing, or why it's needed.

The only reason I care about testing is because of the circumstances. We never lost 40 million jobs due to a virus under Obama. We never had to close schools. We never shut down the NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA.

How can you seriously make the comparison with a straight face? No "rationale" was needed, because we weren't absolutely desperate to end a pandemic.

And you're wrong on the "Orange Man Bad" thing. Trump had one good day last week, where he finally showed some leadership - and people loved it. It was such a breath of fresh air.

Now, this week, he's back to ignoring his task force and just pushing for re-opening & kids to go back to school - without supporting the tools & measures needed to make those things happen.

See, I never budged from Fauci’s first position on masks lol.

And that's an issue. Because HE did - see, he has an ability to learn more about something, admit he was wrong & move on to more sensible policy.

Some people get in a lane, and they ain't moving no matter what.

Clearly, you have no idea what the goal of testing should be, and don't understand anything about what a national testing strategy is.

"Nobody has tested as much as we have" is just a parrot of Trump's line. You should read up on it more. We may as well not be testing at all.

You are exactly right. We may as well not be testing at all. The testing is shit. People are being identified as positive that have never been tested.

This is just a political exercise for you. You are trying to scare people. It is pointless for a virus where 99.9% of people don't get sick or have mild disease. That is a fucking fact.

I have forgotten more about this than you will ever know, but you get your information from Fredo Cuomo so now you think you are a fucking epidemiologist. You are being scammed but are too stupid to know. Enjoy your mask,

BTW, I did break down and by a mask. It says Trump 2020 on it.

When I first joined, one of the mods had to explain to you why it was important to flatten the curve. You didn't realize that it was to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed. It's possible you don't know as much as you think you know. You don't seem to be able to make the connection that regardless of what you think about the virus, governors & leaders on both the left & right think it's serious enough to keep shutting things down, and that it is having a severe impact on our economy regardless of how lightly you take it.

I'm not an epdemiologist. But I defer to them on things like pandemics.

The man does NOT understand the concept of testing.

Why don't we have a national testing strategy? Oh, yeah - because Trump thinks that the more we test, the worse things look.

He keeps saying how we've "tested over 50 million people," like that's supposed to be impressive. We have a much bigger country than that, and people should be tested regularly. A true testing strategy would have us testing over 20 million citizens a day. We've tested 52 million since this began.

Honestly - a Democrat would have implemented a national testing strategy from day 1, and we'd be testing millions every day, at minimum. Sometimes, more government isn't a bad thing.

Indeed.............vote democrat and like magic the Dempanic goes away on Nov. 4, 2020:laugh:

Flattening the curve was a scam. We would have been better off letting this rip through. Hospitals were never overwhelmed, nor were they going to be. As I said, you have been lied to by the "experts". But you choose to be so I am not going to try to stop you. Enjoy your ignorance.

And don't forget to wear a mask as you type

There was a shortage of masks at the time for medical personnel, so that was one of the reasons is he gave for the general population to not use masks. They still ask you not to buy those used by the medical community.

There’s a reason the death rate has dropped dramatically since March/April.

Surprisingly, once again, you are wrong about that. Deaths are rising again. The difference now is 1. Patients are younger and younger, and thus more likely to survive. 2. We have learned better treatments. However, deaths worldwide are on the rise.

That's a great point.

The "but Fauci said" posts are just getting more & more annoying at this point. No context, no consideration of changing circumstances. It's like a silly little game to some.
