So the case isn't going well for Trump's prosecutor, the famous, Judge Jeannine!

President Trump has spent more than $14 million on the Reflecting Pool, adding a blue coat of paint to the bottom and later dumping hydrogen peroxide into the pool to kill algae, which had the side effect of causing the new paint to peel. Unwilling to accept the consequences of his actions, Trump has blamed vandalism for the poor state of the pool, and Pirro has charged at least four people over it, including Hearn.

The government is accusing Hearn of destruction of property, which could send him to prison for 10 years if he’s found guilty. Pirro claims that Hearn “forcefully and violently” ripped two square feet of the pool’s newly added blue paint, while Hearn maintains that he only touched a piece of paint that was already peeling.

So, trump said - there are videos of someone taking a box-cutter to the $14 million pool lining.

What do you guys think? Don't you think we'd have seen the videos of something like that on a loop?

I love this case, so much.

Nothing showcases the Trump and his Admin incompetence more than this case.

Nothing showcases how embarrassed magats are to acknowledge or see how incompetant Trump is more than this case.

That both cannot even come close to dealing with the reality that this was incompetence and grift and instead to cope they need to tell themselves the most obvious of lies brings me endless joy. Because we know they know the truth, but like Sergeant Schultz cannot bear to look at it. :rofl2:

"Hearn has said he put his hand into the pool to see what a partially detached piece of blue liner from the bottom felt like.

But U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro claimed he had intentionally damaged a 2-square-foot piece of sealant as she announced July 2 that a grand jury had indicted Hearn on a felony charge of destruction of property.

“National Park employees observed Hearn actually forcefully and violently pulling up and removing the bottom liner with both hands,” Pirro said at a press conference that day."

I wonder if park employees are going to perjure themselves and claim they saw Hearn vandalize the pool?

I hope there is some way to recover our tax dollars from all these malicious trump prosecutions - Blanche, Patel, Pirro, et al.. all need to pay!

There is no such video, the only video that exists is DonOld having his security entourage drive on it!

That was something! Look for these b.s. cases getting dismissed - unless park employees are actually going to lie under oath and claim they saw "people violently ripping up the lining".

Geez man - what a clown show - sadly - people are being harmed financially by the US government - an organization with unlimited resources. The people charged have to hire lawyers and use their own money.

That's why after trump and his thugs are out of office, even though trump will pardon all of them - the District of Columbia can sue her - the state of Virginia can sue her for malfeasense. And if not - the next Dem administration needs to come up with something -

these scum have to pay.

Was the Reflecting Pool vandalized?

Yes, there was a reported incident of damage/vandalism to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in early June 2026, shortly after its renovation.

According to a National Park Service court filing (via Deputy Director Frank Lands), on June 9, 2026—right after the pool was refilled following a $14–16 million rehabilitation project—U.S. Park Police responded to damage including:

  • Caulk over the foam sealant cut with a sharp knife or razor.
  • Destruction of delaminating surface material.
  • About 70 fence post tops thrown into the pool.

The Interior Department initially viewed it as an isolated incident under investigation.

Broader Context and Controversy

The pool's renovation (blue polyurea coating, etc.) aimed to fix long-standing algae and maintenance issues but quickly faced problems: green algae blooms, peeling/chipping liner, and murky water. This led to hydrogen peroxide treatments and the pool being drained/refilled multiple times.

President Trump and the administration heavily blamed vandals for the peeling, algae, and other issues—claiming things like a 300+ foot gash from a box cutter/knife, corrosive chemicals dumped, etc. They reported multiple arrests (around 5–7 claimed at various points, including citations and police reports) and said evidence would come out in court.

  • One high-profile case involves former U.S. Olympic canoeist David Hearn, charged with felony destruction of property (> $1,000 damage). He pleaded not guilty, saying he only touched a piece of already-peeling liner. Prosecutors (including U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro) alleged he "forcefully and violently" ripped it. His case has faced setbacks (e.g., DOJ losing an initial ask), and critics call him a scapegoat.
  • Additional graffiti (e.g., “8647”) has been reported recently.

Many experts, media outlets, and critics question the scale of the vandalism claims, suggesting the core problems stem from the renovation itself (e.g., coating failure, maintenance choices, or environmental factors). No clear public video evidence of major slashing (like the claimed long gash) has widely circulated, despite mentions of surveillance.

Forum Thread

The Just Plain Politics thread you linked is a recent, low-engagement discussion (started ~today in your time). It frames the debate as "vandalized vs. Trump's pool guy messed up," with a poll leaning heavily toward the latter (sarcastic takes on Trump admin incompetence/grift). Posters reference the Hearn case, lack of videos, and broader skepticism.

Bottom line: Confirmed minor-to-moderate damage occurred (cuts and debris), leading to charges. Whether it explains the bigger renovation failures is hotly disputed along partisan lines. The pool continues to need repairs and has been drained again recently.
