There’s several little tidbits from Rosenstein in there.

One is he alludes to the ‘broad strategy’ of the Russians being to undermine America. This is counter to the narrative that the Russians were in it for Trump and that Trump was a puppet of the Kremlin. Rod is basically saying that, though the troll factories were favoring Trump—the goal was NOT to help Trump per se, but to undermine faith in our political system.

That being the case, the Resistance played the role of useful idiots to the Russians. How ironic.

Secondly and more importantly, Rod states in no uncertain terms that crimes were committed by certain people in the FBI during the initial stages of the Russian investigation: namely, leaking classified information to select members of congress and the media. And this was clearly done to support an anti-Trump narrative.

Apart from vindicating Trump’s Witch Hunt rhetoric—will anyone pay for these crimes or will it be allowed slide?
 
And the timing of this is interesting given the IG report is due out soon.

Rosenstein is trying to put some daylight between himself and some of the shenanigans that were going on during origin of the Russian investigation.

Here are some ifs.

If they follow through with this and indict people, the political damage done to democrats will be significant and long lasting. Couple that with a strong economy and democrats might as well prepare for Trump’s second term. Because they are basically going to be screwed.

Even as it sits, Trump should do well against the Democrat Crazy Train.

Leaking classified information is most definitely a crime even if Rosenstein didn’t cite the statute. I’m sure Barr knows the statute by heart.

And in VERY specific terms, the Mueller Report clearly demonstrates that the Russians acted solely and purposefully to aid Trump. If you'd read it, you'd know that already. I understand, of course, that the big words it used make you uncomfy.

Getting Trump elected is absolutely undermining America. Trump spreads hate and division.

It is to Putin's advantage to sew discord within America because that prevents America from being great, looking fabulous, and making him look like the failure that he is at producing a prosperous Russia.

I’ll spell it out for you: it means that even if Russians were helping Trump THEIR BROADER OBJECTIVE was
to undermine ‘America’ or more specifically, our political process.

Which means the Russians only cared about Trump insofar as he could be used in that regard. And oh boy, was he ever. And you cheered it/them on in doing it.

It also means Trump shouldn’t count on Russian help [to whatever extent their ‘help’ even mattered] the next time because, again, THEIR BROADER OBJECTIVE is to undermine America. Which means the Russians might troll for Bernie next time.

Why wouldn’t they? What would ‘undermine America’ better or faster than forcing the treasury to print money to pay for all the free stuff?
