Smallpox was probably one of the most deadly diseases in human history until we found a means to eradicate it. Yellow fever was pretty bad and we found a means to eradicate that. Malaria, likewise.

There apparently is no cure for Socialism or Communism, it's more virulent cousin, and I doubt there will ever be a means to eradicate it.

I am curious as to why you are calling the Southern states in 1860 Communists.

Most of the wars from 1826-1926 were rebellions against European empires and those governments were not socialist or communist.

However, recent records point out the following:

China (Mao Zedong): 78 million dead.
Josef Stalin: 23 million dead.
Adolf Hitler: 17 million dead.

Total by these three examples of communism: 118 million dead.

Then, of course are the untold numbers wiped out from the wars, and the famine and disease that resulted from them.

A State is from a government. It is not an economic system. That said, the slave owners were socialists. So were the people that supported them. Their favored form of socialism was slavery.
Communism has been around long before 1917. This form of socialism was simply called 'tyranny' back then, but it was the same.

They were quite socialist. Many were communist.
The War of Secession was also caused by socialism.

For a minute there I mistook you for someone smart. Never mind.

Communism/socialism wasn't a thing until the early 20th century. Neither took hold in Africa or the New World. Certain not as smallpox and malaria did. It's estimated that over 10 million indigenous people in the New World alone perished due to smallpox, TB, syphilis, and other diseases brought by Europeans -- without the help of Nazis, commies, or socialists. Today in America we have Reichwing morons trying to convince people that vaccines are poison.
