several of the email chains on the laptop have been verified as being accurate from those that were on the other end

Well, it is corroborated by the emails and the recipients. When the recipient of the email tells you, "yes, this is true and I have copies of it too as well as texts and other evidence that proves it" it tends to pull even cynical folks over to the believing side of things.
