History should be divided into moments before and after July 4th, 1776. The creation of America introduced the world to the overthrow of kings and the birth to self-rule. It was a massive, sweeping transfer of power from a tiny handful of arbitrary monarchs to the rightful rulers--the people. France naturally understood this role reversal to be one of the most important developments in all of human history, copied and pasted into their own country, and provoked decades upon decades of political upheaval in Europe that would eventually produce a world in which most governments have at least some element of representative government, with constitutions, individual rights and liberties, and consent of the governed.
But this quantum leap forward in enlightened governance (accomplished by going to war with the most advanced military on Earth) fundamentally transformed the world WITHOUT also simultaneously and instantly remedying every ancient injustice that has ever existed (slavery, women's rights issues, etc.), so Democrats insist that everything America did that liberated and transformed the world is somehow therefore null and void, and that America was never great...not even when it saved the world from the Nazis (who the rampaging, book-burning mobs of the left pretend to be so against while emulating at every turn). Even the amendment process the Founders left us with to ensure that future generations could rectify any remaining issues or injustices wasn't good enough for the unreasonable children of the left.
As with most ignorant, bigoted Democrat talking points, this nonsense that "America was never great to begin with" provably holds no water.
