What will you do for your country?

No. I don’t flippantly throw about the term nazi like others do. And I said in my previous post that I don’t blame Arnold for the sins of his father, but him advocating stripping away freedoms is chock full of irony. He should know better.

And yes curfews at any time are an infringement of personal liberty.

You would have turned your lights on during the Blitz. That's the type of stupid selfish asshole you appear to be.

The only actual science based studies on this to date. Everything the CDC and WHO are using is anecdotal.

There have been studies trotted out to support mask wearing such as this one:

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2007800

But that one, like many others doesn't use data on actual transmission rates of Chinese Disease among a mask wearing population versus no mask worn. Instead, it focuses on the efficacy of masks in a laboratory setting. This was then extrapolated to suggest masks help stop the transmission of Chinese Disease.

The studies done on populations and rates of COVID infection to date show no evidence that conclusively proves masks help or lower the rate of infection.

consistent use of "Chinese disease".... love it!

Hello Dirt McGirt,

What special emphasis does the son of a nazi officer, who says “screw your freedoms” and then proceeds to unapologetically advocate for stripping personal liberties have? If anything he should know better.

I’ll listen to Arnold if he wants to talk about steroid stacks and workout splits, but that’s about all.

And spare me the whole desire to keep America united. The 4,000 threads that are started here daily dumping on people who don’t agree with a certain line of thinking makes that laughable at best. Y’all’s idea of “united” is everyone confirming to what you want. And that’s not my weight to tote regardless of how you and Arnold want to spin it.

It is unrealistic to expect to have rights without responsibilities.

Americans all have a responsibility to look out for other Americans.

It doesn't matter what the political persuasion is. Some things should never be made political. Americans standing together against a common enemy is not political. It's survival. It's what we do for our country.

Patriotism is more than waving flags and shooting off fireworks. It means doing things for your country.

Who Arnold's father was has nothing to do with what Arnold said.

Either Arnold is correct or he isn't.

I can't find a thing wrong with what he said.

I'm a Democrat. He's a Republican. But in this case, just looking at what he said? I agree with him.

Arnold is right.

Everybody needs to wear a mask.

And it is not too much to ask.

Its all he knows. He has an insecurity problem. Thus the reason for the constant faux virtue signaling.

I don't recall Arnold advocating for stripping any personal liberties. He said: "You have the freedom to wear no mask."

In other words you have the right to do the wrong thing. Arnold is not talking about taking that away. It's just that Arnold and the rest of we Americans are doing the right thing and we want you to join us. Our combined efforts will be more effective if everyone does it. So just do the right thing. Be a part of the solution.

True, not everyone wants to be a part of the solution. They think that is too much to ask.

They may tell you that what we are doing to fight the war against the coronavirus is unprecedented. They’re full of crap. They are lying to you because they make money from your anger."

He's talking about Fox. They make money from making people angry. Tucker Carlson is not a news anchor. I hope everyone knows that.

Hello T. A. Gardner,

Wrong. The evidence in the lab that masks stop airborne droplets is good. There are dozens of these where they test the mask to see what gets through. These don't measure the mask's effectiveness at stopping the spread of COVID however, only the efficiency of the mask in laboratory conditions.

Studies that actually show it mitigating Chinese Disease on the other hand are next to nonexistent. The two I cite were both done specifically on COVID populations and found masks do nothing to stop the spread, meaning most likely that people are catching it by some mechanism that masks don't work on.

The supporting direct evidence is that masks do little or nothing to stop the spread, indirect evidence from lab tests where only the mask was involved not withstanding.

So you looked for what you wanted to see in order to support a predetermined position and you found it.

It is a closed minded completely biased approach. You never even looked at anything that supports the opposing view.

All you did was find reasons to back up what you wanted to believe anyway.

Was there ever a time when you considered this issue with an open mind?

I do believe that I have responsibilities, but I don’t believe in dictating that responsibility on others. If you look back on our country’s history there’s been plenty of times when things that were considered our “responsibility” weren’t right.

You also assume that everyone sees the same common enemy. They don’t.

And Arnold is incorrect. He of all people should realize why.

You’re lecturing me as if you know anything about me. Assuming that “I’m not doing the right thing” because I advocate for people to be able to choose for themselves is a mistake on your part. That you imply that I’m brainwashed by Fox News shows that you’re already blinded by partisan politics.

We are having a multi-participant Forum style discussion, not a lecture.

Part of that discussion is where each participant gives their own views.

You said not everyone sees the same enemy. Would you care to expound on that?

It is a deadly global pandemic. It has already killed nearly 4.5 million people.

This virus is a deadly enemy to humans. We are all on the same side in this war on COVID.

We are simply calling on everyone on the human side to do their part to help fight this common threat.

What enemy do you see?

Do you think fellow Americans or fellow humans are your enemy in this war?

Not everyone feels that they/we are at war with Covid. There are those that feel that bad policy is a bigger threat to lives than Covid. There are those that feel the police are bigger threats to their lives than Covid. There are those that believe that illegal immigration is a bigger threat than Covid. There are those that believe that white supremacy is a bigger threat to their lives than Covid. We can debate whether they’re right or wrong, but not everyone sees the issue the same.

I see a dead heat between the federal government and the media as the biggest enemy of the people right now. Our elected officials have shown time and again that they have no interest in taking care of their constituents but our system is broken to the point that changing it is almost impossible and any attempt to change it is swallowed up by the establishment by stoking division and anger which the media perpetuates because clickbait force fed to you by algorithms makes them more money than actual ethical journalism.

So that's what a real Republican who can have no presidential aspirations sounds like.

Correct. He believed in America like his hero Reagan. All the Republicans today only believe gratifying themselves. This is seen by them jerking off the ex-prez.

Sorry, but that's just regurgitating bad spin.

FWIW, the whole "we're at war with" bullshit is bullshit. War on drugs, poverty, blah, blah, blah. All bullshit. It's a fucking pandemic. A disease costing nations across the globe billions in lost productivity and costs.

Meanwhile, in the US of A, the supposed leader of the free world, American leaders are playing fuckng politics with a pandemic that has cost the US over 600,000 lives. The actions of assholes who do or support this are hurting America.

There is no basis for such a belief. It is illogical.

That emphasizes why it is preferable to utilize public media, which is bereft of the need and pressure to sensationalize in order to maximize profits.

Public media is stressing the need for everyone to get vaccinated. It is beneficial to listen to what they have to say.

The mixed messages on the pandemic coming from the USA are eroding confidence that America is any kind of world leader.

Public media is dependent upon government dollars....meaning they have to suck up to Congress.

While I support "public media", I also support private media. What's lacking, IMO, are rules are about passing off opinion as fact, especially if it's harmful to the public.

Agreed. We look like the fucking Italians now. Didn't they have over 17 governments between WWII and the Millennium?

Yeah, but 1st Amendment.

About what? Your completely hackneyed notion of personal liberty. Sure, let's rock, Dirt. Tell me about how horrible mask mandates are as an infringement to your personal freedom. While you're at it, tell me how you can live in a country that makes you stop at a red light. DON'T TREAD ON ME pal. LOL at you.
