What’s in the middle of article I section 8: the constitution

Even when the nation was founded, there was a separate regular Army, generally consisting of 15 regiments of infantry, 2 of dragoons, and various artillery and coast defense units. The militia were state controlled, and often issued their own distinctive uniforms.

They could be nationalized in time of war, but were normally under the control of the state they were from. Terms of service also varied from state to state.
And then they became a nation of their own

And built a standing military proper for a new world power

With funds only congress could control

The 1903 shit didn’t exist yet huh shit head

The Declaration of Independence was written in 1776 (during the Revolutionary War) by Thomas Jefferson, edited by John Adams and Benjamin Franklin (among others), and adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, as it voted to declare independence from Great Britain. It included a list of grievances against King George III that justified separation from British rule, and it expressed the core principles upon which the United States was founded.

The Constitution was written and signed by a group of delegates in 1787 (years after the Revolutionary War was over) and ratified in 1788. (Thomas Jefferson was not present at the Constitutional Convention.) It remains the “supreme law” of the land today.

If you are an Originalist

You hate anything added to the constitution After it’s original incarnation

How stupid is that?

Way

The US Army, even the US military, was miniscule by world standards until WW 2. The only times it grew to any appreciable size before that was during the Civil War and WW 1.

The founders made it clear what they meant by militia

We can make any guns laws that we want

The founders gave us a government designed to bow to the will of the people

They did not consider the constitution to be a dead contract

It’s a living breathing document

A brilliant idea huh

So when the founders write this beautiful document

All able bodied men were the military that fought the British

So it made no sense to have gun laws in that moment

In fact you wanted every able bodied man packing heat

They were the military that kicked the ass of the British

And people had to hunt to have enough to eat in most families

Now they were becoming a real nation

Time to have a real at the ready militia

Fully trained

Ready to guard your municipality should some Indians or pirates show up

So that you can get back to farming or running a printing press

Or tailoring clothes for the people of your little berg

Or being a post rider

Or fishing for crab

People wanted normal life just like we want now

Not everyone needs guns in a civil society

Guns are a tool

Just like a bandsaw

You can built things with a bandsaw

A gun makes a shitty hammer

Not much good but for making holes in things

Holes nobody wants

Imagine a world where you don’t have to fear if that crazy guy you keep seeing around the corner store mumbling to himself might have a gun

There was a day like that in the past

Types of democracy refers to the various governance structures that embody the principles of democracy ("rule by the people") in some way. Democracy is frequently applied to governments (ranging from local to global), but may also be applied to other constructs like workplaces, families, community associations, and so forth.

Types of democracy can cluster around values. Some such types, defined as direct democracy (or participatory democracy, or deliberative democracy), promote equal and direct participation in political decisions by all members of the public. Others, including the many variants of representative democracy (i.e., constitutional), favor more indirect or procedural approaches to collective self-governance, wherein decisions are made by elected

What is a democratic system of government?

A democratic system of government is a form of government in which supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodic free elections.

America is an indirect democracy which votes for representatives to entrust their vested interests in

The founders infact made a hybred of known government types to create this little beauty of ours

They took the good elements of existing or imagined government styles of the day and wove them together like a safe nest for the people

They NEVER expected some fool to say “don’t ever touch it again”

They knew the new basket weaver was the people

The people they made the nest for

That was the whole idea folks

It’s our baby now

THATS WHAT THEY FUCKING PLANNED!
