I never really understood how the "RACIST!" crowd ignored Maher on that one. Can you explain how it's funny without him referencing and mocking slavery. I'm not offended by it, but I'm puzzled by the lack of outrage from the usual proclaimers that deem things as "racist!". To me, it's just a case of "He's one of us liberals so I'm going to look past it".

He didn't use the word as a put down or or in an inflammatory manner or with any intent to insult.

If some black people found it offensive,then so be it. They have that right.

My best friend growing up was a white guy who grew up in deep East Oakland. He dropped N bombs all the time because that's what kids around him did. Ultimately as he got older he stopped speaking that way but I understand Nomad white liberals need to be able to drop N bombs if they want to make a joke.
