Why did our military leave weapons in Afghanistan?

That sounds negligent as all hell. At a minimum destroy them. Did they think the "stand up army" was going to use them,
then they just walked away?

US personnel destroy their high tech shit including planes/helicopters, but the rag tag Afghan 'army' has a shit load of most everything we did unfortunately, couldn't be avoided.......happened in VN as well

Thoroughly Modern Milley needs to answer for that.

The grunts just do as they are ordered. I figured there were some choice words on their way out.

It is cheaper to leave them than start an operation to take them out. Besides, we do not control the territory.

Well, this is more of an insurrection, a coup, a mutiny than a surrender. In fact it was not putting up a fight or surrendering at all.

The Afghanistan Army and Police we trained and equipped for the last 20 years simply went to the other side intentionally and willfully.

We should have done that in Iraq. Hired the Ba'ath. Incorporate those you conquer.
