This is a problem.
There is no correlation, or at least is not yet a correlation. The data is backwards looking, so you are seeing 2020 data in 2021, and correlating that to 2021 vaccines. We will have data of correlations in 2022.
Lets use the Alpha Variant as the best example of this:
The Alpha Variant evolved into being at the very early in 2020. The only correlation there is with the beginning of the pandemic. A sample of it was taken in both the UK and the USA in September 2020. No one knew those samples were of a new variant, until November in the UK, and December in the USA. They had to be gene sequenced, which takes time. Alpha became dominant in both the UK and the USA in December of 2020, but no one knew. Again, no correlation with the vaccine that barely existed at that point. The UK discovered Alpha was dominant in January, and the USA in February.
In took a few months after February for it to sink in to your (Omar's) mind, so you see this as all happening with the vaccine. It actually all happened in 2020 before the vaccine. The data coming in to the scientific community in February, and the general community months later, is actually from December and before.
Or we can look at the Delta Variant. It came into being sometime early to mid 2020. It has spread to highly vaccinated the UK, but heavily in highly unvaccinated India, and Subsaharan Africa. So far, even though we are way ahead in vaccines, we have not be hard hit by Delta. So there is no correlation between countries with high vaccination rates and either having more or less Delta.
There were variants almost immediately. They were not named variants. And they were interesting variants.
The interesting variants needed time to form in people having Long Covid, and then time to spread. They also needed time to be detected, and then named.
