Bolton may have testimony that is purely exculpatory. But he was in on many conversations that make that as likely as setting up residence on the sun.

A defense attorney will seldom have the accused testify--there is always the possibility he could incriminate himself. Although these tactics apply more to a criminal trial than an impeachment which is a political process.

Trump does it once, and takes a play right out of the jackass's playbook by taking it to court, and you call it "obstruction of congress"? If this was so important, if it was SOOOOOO vital to rid the nation of the evil tyrant, why the hell didn't pelousy wait until the courts settled it? And would those vital witnesses be given the same considerations that clinton was when he appeared in his deposition video? i.e., would they get the questions in advance? Could it be a video deposition? Shifty called a shiftload of witnesses in the house inquiry, none of them could point to an observable "high crime or misdemeanor", what do you expect from the likes of Bolton? But even after you dismiss logic, I can speculate as to one reason why the senate won't have witnesses: contempt for the way the jackass party has handled this debacle.
